The Walterboro Public Safety Department’s Drug Crimes Unit, assisted by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency and the Summerville/Dorchester Metro Unit, wrapped up a year long narcotics investigation this week, Walterboro Mayor Bill Young said.
He said a drug bust by Walterboro Public Safety prompted a multi county, multi agency narcotics investigation led to 16 arrests. All suspects were federally indicted [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] on charges of conspiracy to traffic cocaine. Thirteen of them are Colleton County residents, five of whom live within walterboro city limits. Three are from the Summerville and Goose Creek areas.
"The commitment that City Council has made to ensure public safety remains strong as we continue to implement the practices and policies that have resulted in such great success over the last several years," Young said.
The 13 from Colleton County were arrested in one [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] organized sweep Tuesday by Walterboro Public Safety and agents from participating agencies. Three other defendants were arrested by the DEA.
All defendants are currently [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] jailed and are awaiting bond hearings.
"We are proud of the work that our office and the other agencies did to help get these criminals off the streets. We won’t tolerate these actions in Walterboro, and we believe that word is getting out louder and louder with each arrest," said Otis L. Rhodes, Chief of Walterboro Public Safety.
