Dolly Parton is hardly your average country singer so, it stands to reason, her Hollywood home would be far from average.
The 68-year-old star has just listed her West Hollywood crash pad for $1.395 million and it is definitely a long way from Nashville.
The phrase fixer-upper is normally not mentioned when talking about a celebrity’s home, but the two bedroom single story house may need a little decorator love from whoever snaps it up.
On the market: Dolly Parton is selling one of her homes in West Hollywood, California, which features an unusual guest house
Described as a ‘whimsical oasis’ by Trulia, the home exudes eccentric charm with cactus and country meets pink gingham and cottage touches.
Decorated in a slightly outdated style with a hint of rustic furniture, at a cozy size of just over 1000 square foot, the home features hardwood floors throughout, skylights, fireplaces and natural wood French wood shutters.
With at least fifteen other properties to her **** – mainly in Nashville, Brentwood and Sevierville, Tennessee – it is not known how much time Dolly spent at the home but the master bedroom would have been a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood.
Property mogul: Dolly, pictured here in May, has at least 15 properties to her **** as well as her famous amusement park Dollywood
Eclectic: Described as a ‘whimsical oasis’, the home exudes eccentric charm with cactus and country meets pink gingham and cottage touches
The main bedroom has two closets, built-in vanity area with a pop up television and French doors that open on to a private deck.
The second bedroom also has its own private deck that overlooks the backyard which has a BBQ, built-in seating and is fully enclosed and away from prying eyes.
The whole house is all but obscured from view, with a large fence and hedge surrounding it making it a mini compound.
Lots going on: At a cozy size of just over 1000 square foot, the home features hardwood floors throughout, skylights, fireplaces and natural wood French wood shutters
Ready for a song: A upright piano and a guitar have pride of price amongst the retro furnishings
Very private: The property is surrounded by a fence and hedge making it into a mini compound
However, things really take a turn for the weird thanks to a conversion of a miniscule garage into a guest house.
The back house is big enough to fit a queen bed, but takes the idea of a studio to the next level with the kitchenette and bathroom all contained within the same room.
While the kitchenette contains just a microwave and convention oven for ****ing, it features a giant double door fridge but no sink.
Master’s domain: The main bedroom has two closets, built-in vanity area with a pop up television and French doors that open on to a private deck
Country feel: The second bedroom, while small, features giant French doors opening up into the backyard
The great outdoors: The patios are the perfect place to enjoy a tea or two
But what to do with you dirty places? Well, just a foot away is the bathroom which is separated from the rest of the room just by a fold out screen, meaning the toilet is next to the head of the bed.
But while bizarre, guests can treat themselves to a day of the Jolene singer’s back catalogue while sitting out under the shade trees in the backyard.
Owners can also feel secure as the home features a camera security system throughout.
Interesting colour scheme: The bathroom is done in pink and green tile with wooden cabinets
Mini escape: The back house is big enough to fit a queen bed, but takes the idea of a studio to the next level with the kitchenette and bathroom all contained within the same room
Outdoor living: Those staying at the house can enjoy a BBQ under the shade tress
While unusual, the home is likely to be snapped up quickly as it is located in the highly desirable Norma Triangle area of West Hollywood and, if it sells at the $1.395 million asking price, the Nine To Five star will make herself a profit.
While Dolly bought the home just prior to housing collapse for $1.2 million, West Hollywood has become the place to live so has appreciated in value.
The buyer also gets a slice of celebrity history as not only was the property Dolly’s it was also the childhood home of the tragic Hollywood star Natalie Wood.
