Before “Shark Week,” “Deep Blue Sea” and the monstrous whirlwind “Sharknado,” there was “Jaws,” the great white terrifying millions to the chilling score by John Williams. 40 years after the fish antagonist hit the big screen and Robert Shaw’s boat, the film will now make a reappearance.
On June 21, nearly 500 Theaters nationwide will show the thriller for its anniversary, presented by Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies and Universal Pictures.
In 1975, Steven Spielberg’ directed the adaptation of the Peter Benchley book; it became an instant success and virtually invented the Hollywood summer blockbuster. Just before the film opened, Variety’s A.D. Murphy in his review hailed the film as “an artistic and commercial smash.”
Tickets go on sale Friday, May 29 at FathomEvents.com and participating theaters.
