FBI Agent Shot Up Evidence Against Hundreds of Heroin Dealers: Report

A heroin-addicted FBI Agent ingested the Evidence Against at least 28 alleged drug dealers, leading the agency to dismiss dozens of charges—and as many as 150 defendants could go free as a result, the Washington Post reports.

The agent, Matthew Lowry, worked on a Heroin task force, which enabled him to steal seized Heroin from the Evidence room for his own personal use for more than year, investigators say. According to the Post, Lowry was allegedly able to hide his thefts for at least 14 months, in part because of lax FBI regulations that enabled him to transport the drugs, alone, in his personal vehicle.

Lowry’s system was basically quite simple, according to the FBI ********s and a summary of his statements to investigators, in which he told them how he took drug Evidence from cases with code names including Broken Cord, Family Matters, Tequila Shot and Smellin Like a Rose.

He checked out drugs from cases he had worked on the pretense of taking them to a lab to be tested for trial. He kept the drugs — sometimes for days or weeks, other times for months — and used a little bit nearly every day, he told investigators. He eventually submitted the drugs to the lab and took them back to the FBI office when testing was done.

Lowry described for investigators a painstaking process used to circumvent rules and procedures and avoid detection, court ********s state. He said he forged signatures of supervisors to authorize withdrawals and of colleagues to reseal Evidence bags he had cut open, taking time to practice the signatures. He often targeted cases that were already resolved, making it less likely another Agent would need the drugs and notice that Evidence was missing.

Lowry told investigators he routinely used a filler to repackage bags of heroin. He said he often added an over-the-counter laxative but also used creatine, a chemical commonly mixed with Heroin before it hits the street. An FBI memo said Lowry used a digital scale — taken from a drug house — to ensure that he repackaged the drugs at close to their initial weight.

And Lowry isn’t the only one circumventing the legal chain of custody required to prosecute criminal cases: according to the Post, a recent FBI investigation "found that every one of the nation’s field offices had problems tracking gun and drug Evidence and that in some cases, drugs disappeared for months without notice."

"I think that over time the controls begin to loosen. It never occurs to them that some**** would make off with the drugs and steal the money," a retired Justice Department inspector general tells the Post.

Taylor Momsen thinks "fame is so fleeting and stupid."

Given the way she’s treated in the press, it’s not hard to empathize with the young star.

Her transition from television to music came at a price, courtesy of cruel bloggers who seemingly made it their mission to highlight her more embarrassing moments. During the Warped Tour in 2024, for example, a concert photographer snapped upskirt pictures of the Pretty Reckless singer on stage.

"My Tampon String was put on the Internet when I was 15 because some A–hole Shot up my Dress and it made big headlines," she says. "For a year, if you Googled ‘Taylor Momsen’ the Tampon photo was the first thing that came up. When that happens, you just go, ‘I really just don’t give a f–k,’ and you close the computer. People are going to say what they’re going to say, and the tabloids will always spin s–t."

Momsen left Gossip Girl behind in Season 4 (along with co-star Jessica Szohr), though she made a cameo in the series finale. That episode featured the Pretty Reckless song "Kill Me" at its conclusion.

Their relationship was met with some controversy as Gordon was informally adopted by Brown’s mother when he was 12. "Let me clear up something, we aren’t even real brother and sister, nor is he my adoptive brother," Brown wrote on Facebook after getting back together with Gordon. "My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating."

MONCTON – Heavily armed RCMP officers in Moncton, N.B., continue to hunt for a gunman suspected of killing three officers and injuring two others.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Chantal Farrah told media Thursday morning the suspect was still at large and asked residents in a large portion of the city to remain inside and lock their doors while police continue to search for 24-year-old Justin Bourque.

Roadblocks and traffic disruptions are expected in the area and schools have been closed. The city also pulled its buses off the roads and Canada Post cancelled delivery.

Bourque is allegedly carrying high-powered rifles, a crossbow and knife and is considered dangerous.

Police are also asking the public not to disclose police operation details on social media as the search continues.

RCMP blocked a number of roads and urged people in the area to stay inside their homes and lock their doors.

“We are professionals. We will ensure the security of the public. We are going to do that,” said Codiac RCMP spokesperson Const. Damian Theriault, who later broke down in tears at a media briefing with the city’s mayor when he was asked how officers are balancing their grief and the difficult task of searching for the suspect.

Theriault said police from other areas of the province and neighbouring provinces were involved in the search.

He did not confirm whether the shootings were part of a targeted attack, but investigators did not believe any civilians were involved in the shooting.

The Horizon Health Network, a provincial health authority, said on its Twitter feed that two patients were taken to the Moncton Hospital with gunshot wounds.

“[Moncton Hospital] is restricting visitors to those with critically ill family members. All others are asked to refrain from visiting at this time,” Horizon Health CEO John McGarry told reporters.

McGarry explained the hospital went into Code Orange at about 8:30 p.m. and the facility was put on lockdown.

“[Code Oranges] are not just basic trauma,” he explained. “They are mass casualties expected.”

“It’s normal procedure… to control the environment and the outside. Our staff need to get in and they need to be unimpeded.”

The lockdown would remain in place as long as needed, McGarry added. Code Orange was lifted at about 1:30 a.m.

He estimated many dozen staff, possibly as many as 100, were on duty to deal with the situation.

Moncton Hospital Chief of Staff Dr. Dhany Charest said the two wounded officers were in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Charest added another victim from a separate shooting incident was also being treated at the hospital.

“This person is in critical condition in the [operation room],” he said.

The separate, unrelated shooting took place on Saint Laurent Street, in nearby Dieppe, at about 10:30 p.m.

Premier David Alward offered his thoughts and prayers to those affected by the shooting.

“I was shocked and saddened to learn of tonight’s tragic situation in Moncton,” he said in a statement.

Early Thursday morning, Prime Minister Stephen Harper offered his condolences, calling it “a sad time for the people of Moncton, the people of New Brunswick and for Canada.”

“On behalf of all Canadians, Laureen and I offer our deepest condolences to the families, colleagues and friends of those affected by this tragedy,” Harper said in a statement. “We also offer our prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured.”

The prime minister said the sacrifice of the officers will be “honoured and remembered.”

“This violent incident is a stark reminder that our men and women in law enforcement put their lives on the line in Canada every day to protect our citizens and communities,” Harper said.

Governor General David Johnston also released a statement Thursday morning.

“Those who wear the colours of the RCMP understand the risks of the uniform, but defend our communities time and again with bravery and courage,” he said. “In cases of unthinkable violence, we come together as a community and as a country to mourn.”

Sean Gallacher, who lives near the area where police are concentrating their search, told The Canadian Press he heard what he now believes were gunshots but initially thought his daughter had dropped some toys on the floor above him.

“I was downstairs and heard a few bangs,” said Gallacher, 35.

“I went to check but she hadn’t dropped anything. Then I heard the news and realized what it actually was.”

The shootings in Moncton also brought back memories of an RCMP tragedy in Mayerthorpe, Alta., on March 3, 2024, when Constables Anthony Fitzgerald Orion Gordon, Lionide (Leo) Nicholas Johnston, Brock Warren Myrol and Peter Christopher Schiemann were shot and killed.

South Carolina trooper charged, shot man – seat belt violation

South Carolina trooper charged, shot man – seat belt violation

One of those stories that just really pissed me off.

COLUMBIA, SC — An S.C. trooper who stopped a man for a seat belt violation outside Columbia and then shot him – apparently without provocation – was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Sean Groubert, 31, a lance corporal who was fired from the Highway Patrol after the shooting incident, now faces 20 years in prison if convicted of wrongfully shooting the driver, Levar Jones.

Groubert was booked Wednesday evening at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. He was fired from the patrol last Friday.

Wednesday night, in a hearing at the jail, Magistrate Ethel Brewer set Groubert’s bond at $75,000.

A video of the Sept. 4 shooting incident was played at Groubert’s bond hearing.
The video shows Groubert firing repeatedly at Jones, who was not armed and who was not behaving aggressively. Jones was struck at least once, in the hip. He spent time in the hospital and is now out of the hospital recuperating.

COLUMBIA, SC: VIDEO RELEASED: SC trooper charged with felony in shooting at traffic stop over seat belt violation | Crime | The State

Sean Groubert, South Carolina State Trooper, Fired & Arrested After Shooting Unarmed Man

A South Carolina state trooper was fired last week and arrested on Wednesday after a dashcam video showed him shooting an unarmed man during a routine traffic stop.
Former officer Sean Groubert, 31, is seen in the newly released video pulling over Levar Edward Jones. The clip, which was recorded on Groubert’s dashcam on Sept. 4, shows Jones getting out of his vehicle at a gas station in Columbia.
Groubert asks Jones for his driver’s license. As Jones reaches into his vehicle to retrieve it, Groubert shouts, "Get out of the car!"

When Jones complies and starts to back away from the vehicle, Groubert opens fire. Three shots can be heard; Jones was hit at least once, in the hip.
"I was just getting my license," Jones says. He also apologizes repeatedly, and asks, "Sir, why was I shot? All I did was reach for my license. I’m coming from work."
"Well, you dove head-first back into your car," Groubert says. "Then you jumped back out, I’m telling you to get out of your car."

Groubert was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, a felony which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, according to a news release from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

The complaint states that Groubert "did without justification unlawfully shoot Levar Jones which produced great bodily injury or was likely to cause great bodily injury. Audio and visual recordings, as well as written statements, obtained are further evidence to indicate the shooting incident was without justification."
South Carolina Department of Public Safety Director Leroy Smith called the case disturbing.

"After my review of the facts surrounding this matter, I have determined that Mr. Groubert’s actions rose to such an extent that his employment with us must be terminated," Smith said in a statement last week. "While Mr. Groubert was within the law to stop Mr. Jones for a safety belt violation, the force administered in this case was unwarranted, inconsistent with how our troopers are trained, and clearly in violation of Department policies."

Groubert pleaded not guilty and is free after posting a $75,000 bond, according to WIS-TV. He’s expected to appear in court on Oct. 24.
Jones was hospitalized for the hip injury, but has since been released. He told WIS that he hopes the incident will lead to change throughout the country.

A helicopter pilot and Britney Spears ex-boyfriend — who helped the pop princess quit booze — has been killed by Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.
John Sundahl, 44, was shot down during a flight from Kabul, where he’d been working as a private contractor transporting officials across the war-torn nation, according to the Daily Mirror.
“She is devastated,” a source close to Spears told the UK paper. “Britney thought he was a lovely man.”
A former real estate whiz, Sundahl dated Spears, 33, in 2024 after they met at Alcoholics Anonymous in Los Angeles. He spoke openly about her alcohol abuse.

“I told her, ‘If you fall off the wagon I don’t think you’ll live,’” Sundahl told the National Enquirer in 2024. I told her, ‘If you don’t want to get sober for yourself, do it for your kids.’”
Spears publicly credited him with helping her overcome her drinking problems.
From his LA home, Sundahl’s brother Karl said officials told the family the Taliban was responsible for the brave pilot’s death.
“It’s heartbreaking,” Karl Sundahl said. “John went there to try to repair the country. He was trying to help people, he would often say that the country was in chaos.”

Sundahl’s **** was returned to the U.S. last week. A small family funeral was held at a Buddhist temple in Los Angeles, according to The Mirror.
“We had a really small funeral,” his brother said. “It was what John would have wanted.”
