Alan Cumming reprises his one

At the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, Cumming is reprising his one man "Macbeth," a show that ran last summer in Glasgow and at the Lincoln Center Festival.Directed by John Tiffany, lately of "Once," the show stars Cumming as a mental patient who relates to the Scottish play and ritually re enacts it. Blood stains on a child sweater suggest that he may, in some way, empathize with the central couple guilt.Bounding from bed to wheelchair to bathtub, he takes on the play 15 parts, with no major costume changes (and, often, with not much of a costume). When he reads out the witches prophesies, his haunted face appears on three TV screens that look like hospital monitors. His voice and **** do all the work as he relives Lady Macbeth "un*** me" speech, Macbeth terror at seeing a ghost and, in one particularly virtuosic feat, their rapid fire argument."I sort of think of them as [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] the same person in a way," Cumming said recently in a phone interview, following his second doctor appointment of the day during which he checked up on a sprained rib."Freud wrote this really interesting essay about the play, where he said that Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are the same person. Everything Macbeth fears happens to Lady Macbeth and everything Lady Macbeth wants and hopes for happens to him."The unconventional revival initially sprung from Cumming desire to dig into Lady Macbeth. He had planned to do a production in which the leading actress and actor switched parts from one night to the next. When the rehearsal process for the first production began, they had the **** set (there are a few cuts) and a couple of plans, but a daunting amount to figure out as they went."The whole story of what happens to me (as the mental patient), we had to make up," he said. "It was kind of terrifying. We didn really have any idea what was going to happen, I just trusted."Cumming calls the sheer learning of the play for the Glasgow run "crazy." In a series of videos he has been making in the lead up to his [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] opening night [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] on Broadway, he can be seen running lines, fretting over single words missed of the hallowed ****.As for delineating each character, he said, "it about storytelling, and you just have to be more [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] and more precise."The show takes on an extra emotional and narrative layer with the addition of the new character who frames the story. There are times when Cumming is not speaking the ****, but appears wracked with agony and collapsing in exhaustion. When he performed the show at Lincoln Center, friends and fans were concerned for his welfare."It taking its toll," he said. "I looking out for myself, but it really hard core physically."What makes it worthwhile for Cumming is the audience response to the show, which, even in a Broadway con****, can feel more intimate than usual. Joining Cumming onstage occasionally are a doctor and an orderly. They sometimes watch him through a window, making a viewer particularly conscious of looking into a psyche that wouldn normally be on public display."I aware that they having an experience that is very intense and very unusual, and that makes it a very exciting thing to do, when you realize people are responding in the way you hope terrified, moved," Cumming said.
