Walmart is now selling a 65-inch 4K TV for $1,000
Seiki Digital SE65UY04 65" 4K Ultra HD 2160p 120Hz LED HDTV: TV & Video : Walmart.com
The main reason I’m posting this is this technology paradox:
- 4K tv’s have twice the resolution, in both directions, as current HDTVs.
- Despite this being a very new technology, Walmart is already selling one of these TVs at about the price that an HDTV was selling for last Christmas.
- There is still VIRTUALLY NO CONTENT to take advantage of with these TVs. No new video disk technology. NetFlix and Amazon, etc., are offering virtually no 4K programming (but there are 4K versions of Breaking Bad and House of Cards available, with heavy compression).
- Your home connection to the Internet probably isn’t good enough to support the data streams needed to send 4K movies to your TV.
- A 4K movie takes up about 250 GB of space.
