Chester is known for its glamorous residents.
The Cheshire city is beloved by footballers’ wives, the Hollyoaks cast and the Real Houseswives of Cheshire.
So there was high hopes for the fashion that would be on show on Day One of the three-day Boodles May Festival at Chester Races today.

Many of the men and women who turned up didn’t disappoint, with an array of smart dresses and fitted blazers on show.
But there was still a sizable amount of cleavage, fake tan and skyscraper heels.
The glossiness of many of the outfits took a hit thanks to the unpredictable spring weather.
High winds meant that many women were left clutching their hats, while others were forced to cover up their colourful dresses with winter coats.

The wind and rain failed to dampen the spirits of racegoers though, with thousands heading through the gates for a day of betting.
Many ladies ignored the weather forecast completely and braved the elements with bare legs and arms in short-sleeved mini dresses and strappy heels.
The model and actress Charlotte Dawson was in high spirits as she arrived at the event with a group of friends.

The trio of ladies grinned through the unpredictable showers in their colourful frocks but were eventually forced to admit defeat and hid their styled hairdos under raincoats.
Others came more prepared and spent the afternoon ****tering under an array of brightly patterned umbrellas.
As well as Charlotte Dawson, famous faces included Liverpool FC legend Kenny Dalglish and his wife Marina, as well as footballer Micheal Owen, who was joined by his wife Louise.

There are higher hopes for the weather for Ladies Day though – which takes place tomorrow.
Reports are predicting a drier day with highs of 11 degrees.
Fortunately for the racegoers, the historic Chester racecourse has undergone a £2 million refurbishment over the last year.
They were able to ****ter from the elements in a brand new champagne bar – which was used by visitors for the first time today.

Hours before the New York Film Festival’s closing-night premiere, director Alejandro G. Inarritu and the cast of Birdman posed for photos and answered questions after a Saturday afternoon press screening, held at New York City’s AMC Lincoln Square — to the dismay of some of the actors.
“Being a celebrity is sh-t — it’s dumb and I’m not interested in it,” said Zach Galifianakis, noting that he’s not a fan of all the “picture-taking” and that the cast generally feels the same way. “I like to be an actor, and that’s it. The blurred lines are, I think manmade. I think celebrity is a manmade thing, it’s not innate in us, we have people telling us, ‘We should pay attention to these people,” for all the wrong reasons, their personal lives and whatnot. … I’d rather just do my work and go home and watch Lifetime.”

To be fair, he was asked specifically about where to draw the line between “actor” and “celebrity” and Zach was explaining that he likes being an actor but hates this idea of being a celebrity. While he does seem to practice what he preaches (when is the last time Zach got pap’d with a lady friend, you know?), it does seem like… there’s a trade-off. Zach gets to be a comedic leading man and people write down what he says in interviews and press conferences. It seems odd to complain about it while actively participating in the press for one’s film. Then on the NYFF red carpet, THR asked him for clarification and this is what he said:
“It’s confusing to me — all of this is confusing to me. They oversell it like we’re curing cancer, you know what I mean?” he told The Hollywood Reporter at the New York Film Festival’s closing-night premiere on Saturday, held at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. “I just think it can be gross sometimes, the way Hollywood congratulates itself all the time.”
“I agree with what this movie says. I read it, and I’m like, ‘Boy, he’s taking swipes at every****, but he’s right.’ So the truth trumps everything else,” he said of the Alejandro G. Inarritu dramedy. “It’s gotten a little out of hand — there’s no culture in it. If people were writing about poets, mathematicians and all that, that would just move us forward quicker.”

I had the chance to watch Celine Dion’s full interview with Good Morning America, in which she revealed that she’s returning to Vegas after months at homecaring for her husband. As we covered yesterday, Celine’s husband of over 20 years, René Angélil, 73, is unable to speak or eat following surgery for throat cancer. Celine revealed that he requires a feeding tube. I was so moved by Celine’s story, and the full interview just confirmed that. She’s always been such a sincere, classy person
During the interview, they showed Celine and René walking out on the stage in Vegas where she’s set to perform again in August. René moved gingerly and you could tell was having problems. In a new interview with People Magazine, Celine reveals that it was René’s idea for her to return to Vegas. People also says that René has lost much of his hearing due to radiation treatments for his cancer. It’s hard to read all she’s been through. Here’s some of what she told People:

I always remember that saying when you get married: ‘In sickness and in health.’ I am scared of losing him, because it’s bad… but I have to show myself, my husband and my kids that I’m strong and we’re ok.
When I stopped performing, I wanted to be just a wife and mother. He wants me to sing again, and I want to do this with him.
On everything they’ve been through
It’s made us strong. We’ve been through a lot and we’re not questioning, ‘What happened and why? And how come again?’ We just have to get through it the best possible way… sickness is tough, it’s not something you choose.
You just have to live every day to the fullest… we don’t know what the future will bring, so we decided to just go for it.
How her children are doing
The twins are fine because they’re young, but I’m worried about RC. [Her oldest son, 13]. He understands what’s going on, and I feel a lot of empathy for him and I want him to feel like he can talk…
They [her children] help me to keep busy and stay positive. I just can’t sit around and worry.

He was ready before me. He amazes me. I feel very fortunate I still have him… Rene has a little written destiny, but what exactly and when, no**** knows, and we’re not waiting for it.

Resplendent in a rainbow frocks, eye-wateringly high heels and lashings of fake tan, Liverpool’s ladies were out in force as the first day of racing at Aintree kicked off.
But not everyone managed to pull off equestrian chic, with one racegoer photographed wandering around the course bare-foot before the first race had even begun.
Others appeared to have indulged in a bit too much champagne while having lunch and were pictured tottering around the course looking a little worse for wear.

Entering the style stakes? Fake tan, fascinators and bare legs proved popular with racegoers arriving at Aintree for the first day of racing
But not everyone let the side down in either the style or sobriety stakes, with many of the 30,000 strong crowd looking glamorous in summer dresses, bare legs and open-toed sandals.
Just as popular were all-white ensembles, summer’s ultra-fashionable tribal print trend and glamorous scarlet dresses, although most racegoers seemed to have left their coats at home.
As always, female racegoers cranked up the glamour with plenty of fake tan, voluminous waves and elegantly manicured talons as they went for glory in the style stakes.
Leading the charge was none other than the city’s WAG-in-chief, Coleen Rooney, who plumped for a glamorous hot pink number, which she teamed with platform heels by Christian Louboutin and an elegant up-do.

Joining Mrs Rooney on the opening day of the Crabbie’s Grand National Festival was Princess Anne, who looked elegant in black suede knee-high boots and a chic purple coat.
After inspecting the racecourse, the Princess Royal was later pictured shaking hands with the jockeys who, with their mounts, will brave the infamous Becher’s Brook during Saturday’s Grand National.
While Princess Anne was elegant, one racegoer who had dressed for the weather was presenter Claire Balding, who sported a typically practical sheepskin jacket and neat black slacks while covering the day’s action for Channel 4.
On the course, racing kicked off with the Injured Jockeys Fund 50th Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle, which saw Paul Carberry on Guitar Pete see off a challenge from Davy Russell and Clarcam to take the £100,000 prize money.
Other highlights include the Red Rum Handicap Chase at 4.15pm, the Crabbies Fox Hunter’s Chase at 3.40pm and the last race of the day, the Dominican Republic Handicap Hurdle.

Apparently the waiter and the C+ lister hooked up at the same party two years prior and had sex at her apartment but he was on a network show. When she saw he was a waiter now she told him to stay away from her. The waiter had all sorts of details about our C+ lister and he wasn’t shy about spilling.

The screaming and fighting and the women he would take to his apartment instead of coming home have ended it. That and the big secret she withheld from him because she says she was scared for her life. She always ends up with these guys who she is scared of and who treat her poorly and she gives back. She isn’t afraid to punch and scratch and throw things. She is an Academy Award winning actress and it is fitting that she was telling people last night the marriage is over. He has cheated from day one and told her she would have to put up with it.
