‘I was attacked by a chupacabra’: Johnny Depp gives VERY bizarre excuse for missing a press conference

Johnny Depp came up with quite the excuse after missing a press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday.
The 51-year-old actor showed up to a photo call the following day, and explained to journalists that he had been ill, but that wasn’t the reason for his absence.
‘I was attacked yesterday morning by a very rarely seen or experienced animal called "chupacabra,"’ he shared. ‘I fought with it for hours. They’re very persistent, very mean.
‘And I’m pretty sure it came into my suitcase. I threw him off the 23rd floor. So we’ll never see him again. Thank you for understanding.’
The chupacabra is a legendary creature rumored to inhabit parts of the Americas, and Depp’s wild tale drew laughs from the crowd of reporters.
The name chupacabra comes from two Spanish words, ‘chupar’, to suck, and ‘cabra’, goat.

It is believed that the legend of the livestock killing, vampire-like creature was born in 1995, when eight sheep were found dead in Puerto Rico with identical puncture wounds to the chest and completely drained of blood.
The beast is said to have been spotted several times since then. El Chupacabra was blamed for a Mexican incident where 35 sheep were mysteriously found dead.
In 2024, a town in Belarus claimed to have a sighting, while a man in Mississippi shot and killed what he thought was one of the beasts that same year.
More than 200 journalists were kept waiting for an hour before organizers canceled Tuesday’s event because Depp was unwell.
Mortdecai, an eccentric heist comedy, tanked at the box office, making an estimated $4.1 million in North America and $5.2 million elsewhere last weekend.
Depp has a huge fan base in Japan and said he hopes the film will be received well in the country, where it will be released on February 6.
