Sophie B. Hawkins Welcomes a baby girl at 50: See the First Photo!

Sophie B. Hawkins is singing a happy song today! The 50-year-old performer, best known for her ’90s hits "As I Lay Me Down" and "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" welcomed a baby girl named Esther Ballantine Hawkins on Tuesday, July 7, she confirms exclusively to Us Weekly. It is the second child for Hawkins, 50, who gave birth to son Dashiell in 2024.
"Dashiell and I are ecstatic to finally be with our beautiful girl," she tells Us. "Our family is now complete!"

Confirming her pregnancy in February, Hawkins — who affectionately nicknamed her daughter-to-be "Bubble Gum" — told Us she wasn’t worried about expanding her family later in life. "Being 50 is actually an amazing age to have a second child because I am more wise, calm, humorous, appreciative, simple and clear," Hawkins, who froze 15 embryos when she was 31, explained. "I’m not running around looking for love and validation. I live each day full of gratitude, and that’s good for my children."
Hawkins did worry about how her son would react to having a little sister, but is now confident the family of three will adjust just fine.
"I’m in great health and Dashiell was a healthy pregnancy, but the risks emotionally seemed huge,” the singer said. "Losing the closeness with Dash, our free and adventurous lifestyle, and the risk that he would feel betrayed by my having another child. We’ve come through serious trauma with depth, healing and humor and that has made our bond even stronger."
