On cocaine: “I tried Cocaine, which I instantly loved but eventually hated. Cocaine is terrific if you want to hang out with people you don’t know very well and play Ping-Pong all night. It’s bad for almost everything else…The day after cocaine is rough.”

On Ecstasy and/or Molly: “I remember a wonderful UCB (comedy group United Citizens Brigade) New Year’s Eve party where we all danced and drank water and loved each other. I also remember the next day when I thought I had no friends and I was so sad I wanted to sink into the carpet and permanently live there.”

Life as a single mother of two: “The next day is the thing I can’t pull off anymore. How do you explain to a 4- and 6-year-old that you can’t play Rescue Bots because you have to spend all day in bed eating Cape Cod potato chips and watching The Bicycle Thief?”

She doesn’t even smoke pot much anymore: “I can’t perform, drive or write stoned, and therefore I smoke pot a lot less than I used to.”

On mushrooms: “Everyone needs love, never hurt a living thing [and] don’t worry about the choices you make because everything will be fun because life is a closet filled with pool toys.”

Author forced to pay back .5 million for invented holocaust memoir

Woman who MADE UP entire bestselling holocaust memoir is forced to pay back .5 million after her lies are revealed 17 years later… and she’s not even Jewish

  • Misha Defonseca won .5 in a copyright case against her publisher
  • It was later revealed that her bestselling holocaust memoir was mostly fictional
  • Defonseca has been ordered to forfeit the money by a Massachusetts court

A woman who invented a wild tale of survival during the holocaust has been ordered to forfeit the .5 million judgement she won from her publishers by a Massachusetts court.
Published in 1997, Misha: A Mémoire of the holocaust Years is about a Jewish girl from Brussels who walked across Europe by herself after her parents were seized by Nazis.

Misha Defonseca, 76, and her ghostwriter Vera Lee won $32.4 million from publisher Jane Daniel and Mt Ivy Press in a copyright registration claim in 1998 in which Daniel was found to have conducted ‘highly improper representations and activities.’

Storyteller: Misha Defonseca admitted to making up most of her memoir about her childhood as a Jewish orphan in WWII

Daniel appealed, but in 2024 the Massachusetts Appeals Court upheld the judgement.

However, during the appeal process, inconsistencies in Defonseca’s outlandish tale began to attract the suspicion of Daniel, journalists, forensic genealogists, reports the Courthouse News Service.

In her memoir, Defonseca wrote that she trekked 1,900 miles across Europe in search of her parents. She spent months living in the forest with a pack of wolves, hiding from Nazis and in one encounter, stabbed a Nazi rapist to death.

These events all occurred when she was aged between seven and 11 years old, according to the book.

Following her trial loss, Daniel set out to determine whether Defonseca’s tale was truthful.

She eventually located a ******** that included Defonseca’s maiden **** – which in the book was Levy – and her date and place of birth.

One of the pack: In her memoir, Defonseca wrote that she lived for a time with a pack of wolves while hiding from Nazis

Her real ****, Daniel found, was Monica Ernestine Josephine De Wael, and she was not Jewish.

During the time she was supposed to have been communing with wolves and killing Nazis, Defonseca was in actual fact enrolled in a Brussels school.

Defonseca, now living in Massachusetts, has admitted that her best-selling book was an elaborate fantasy she kept repeating, even as the book was translated into 18 ********s and made into a feature film in France.

‘This story is mine. It is not actually reality, but my reality, my way of surviving,’ Defonseca said in a statement given by her lawyers to The Associated Press.

‘I ask forgiveness to all who felt betrayed. I beg you to put yourself in my place, of a four-year-old girl who was very lost,’ the statement said.

She admitted that her parents were arrested when she was four and she was taken care of by her grandfather and uncle.

Bestseller: The book was not a huge hit in the U.S. but sold millions in Canada and Europe

Defonseca said she was poorly treated by her adopted family, called a ‘daughter of a traitor’ because of her parents’ role in the resistance, which she said led her to ‘feel Jewish.’

She said there were moments when she ‘found it difficult to differentiate between what was real and what was part of my imagination.’

Defonseca had been asked to write the book by publisher Jane Daniel in the 1990s, after Daniel heard the writer tell the story in a Massachusetts synagogue.

Daniel and Defonseca fell out over profits received from the best-selling book, which led to a lawsuit. In 2024, a Boston court ordered Daniel to pay Defonseca and her ghost writer Vera Lee $32.4 million, of which Defonseca received .5 million.

In 2024, the Superior Court found that Defonseca had committed a fraud and set aside the verdict. She appealed and on April 29, Judge Marc Kantrowitz, in what he described as ‘the third, and hopefully the last’ opinion on the matter, agreed that the truth of Defonseca’s story would have made a difference to the jury’s deliberations.

Judge Kantrowitz noted that Defonseca and Daniel had both acted ‘highly inappropriately,’ and expressed the Court’s hope that ‘the saga has now come to an end,’ reports Mondaq.

‘Just for fun, we used to have competitions over who could go the longest without showering and shaving,’ Jason writes of the producer, who won an Academy Award this year for 12 Years A Slave.
‘Brad always won. Having to go on an audition meant cleaning up, which is what usually put an end to the streak.’

The father-of-two also reveals his co-star Shannen Doherty, who played his sister on Beverly Hills 90201, didn’t endear herself to him back in 1990, when the pair were forced to make a last-minute trip to New York on a private jet to meet with advertisers.
‘I could not believe my ears at Shannen’s very first words after she boarded,’ Jason writes. ‘Her butt had barely hit her seat before she said loudly to the PR person, "Really? A town car? You send a town car to take me to the airport, not a limo"’ She sighed a very put-upon sigh. I laughed, as I couldn’t really tell if Shannen was kidding or not.’
He continues: ‘But that was just the beginning. I looked on, becoming more uneasy by the minute as she began bitching about the short notice and the food on board and the temperature in the cabin and everything else.’

The actor also revealed that Bradley Cooper, his co-star in the 2024 ABC Family film I Want To Marry Ryan Banks, advised him on how to pop the question to his now wife Naomi Lowde while on holiday.

‘Do it as soon as you get there… Your nerves will be shot enough. That ring will be burning a hole in your pocket on the plane… You don’t need to be wandering around England for a week trying to maneuver her to the right place. Trust me,’ Bradley allegedly told Jason.
Jason ended up proposing and the pair tied the knot in 2024.

He also takes Mischa Barton to task for being rude, after the pair had to share a car to a press event in the Bahamas in 2024.
‘I was sitting directly across from Mischa and her mother as the car prepared to leave,’ he writes. ‘Mischa looked at her mother and said, "Do we have to share a car with him?"’.
‘He can hear you, you know,’ Jason writes. ‘He’s sitting right here!’.
Apparently Mischa sighed and rolled her eyes before remaining silent throughout the rest of the ride.

Executive producer and Tori’s father Aaron Spelling asked Jason to direct it, and after he shot it he took the film over to Aaron’s office to view it.
‘I sat next to him and tried not to squirm as we watched an episode featuring his only daughter losing her virginity on screen. I was beyond nervous,’ writes Jason. ‘Aaron chewed on his pipe the whole time and said nothing. Finally we came to the end. "Very tasteful, Jason, very tasteful," Aaron finally pronounced. And that was that.’

Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Sets Record Straight in Memoir

Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Sets Record Straight in Memoir

"I didn’t agree with a lot of the things Steven [Tyler] wrote in his book," says the guitarist.

By Andy Greene | May 21, 2024

Joe Perry is finally ready to give his side of the Aerosmith saga. His long-awaited book Rocks: My Life in and Out of Aerosmith is slated to hit ****ves on October 7th.

"It took about a year longer than I thought it would," says Perry, who co-wrote the book with David Ritz. "But it’s finally done. We’re just finishing up taking the pictures and going through all the little details that go with it."

The guitarist’s book follows Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer’s 2024 Memoir Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top and Steven Tyler’s 2024 effort Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?. "I’ve wanted to write one for a while," says Perry. "But Joey put his book out and I wanted to leave some room there and then Steven put his book out. I didn’t want to make it seem like mine was an answer to his, so I waited a little longer."
Perry did read Tyler’s book. "It’s definitely Steven’s truth, no doubt about it," he says. "He’s allowed to perceive things how he perceives things. He can write his book any way he wants. But I didn’t agree with a lot of the things he said. I know he worked hard on it, but it’s got a totally different tenor and energy than my book. Mine tends to be a little more traditional. It’s an autobiography in the real classic sense. I just hope Steven accepts the things I say about how I felt and how I saw things happen. I don’t put words in other people’s mouths or talk about conversations that I wasn’t there for."
Part of Perry’s motivation for writing the book was to finally present his version of the band’s history. "Not a lot of truth has come out about the last 20 years of the band," he says. "We all know about the 1970s and the VH1 Behind the Music bullshit and getting the band back together, which itself is a small miracle. After that, it kind of drops off."
The band did tell its story in the 1997 book Walk This Way: The Autobiography of Aerosmith. "That book was really a swan song to our last manager," says Perry. "In fact, he told the writer, Stephen Davis, that unless he got to read the book first, and literally edit it himself before the band saw it, he would not have any access to the band. This was unbeknownst to us, but we found out afterwards. We were all involved and ready to get our stories out there, but we lost sight of the bigger picture."
Aerosmith wrap up their world tour in September, and not long afterwards Perry will launch a promotional book tour. "It’s a good thing it comes out after the tour," says Perry. "That kind of guarantees we’ll finish up the tour, no matter what any**** thinks about the book."
