Gingrich tells Iowa Tea Party he can still win GOP nomination

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich on Saturday continued to explain why the bulk of his staff quit his campaign in recent weeks and insisted his positive, ideas based strategy would lead [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] his troubled campaign to victory in the Republican primary.

Gingrich’s trip to Pizza Ranch in Indianola, Iowa as a part of the Iowa Tea Party’s bus tour, comes days after his two finance staffers quit last week, the latest in a series of departures from his presidential campaign.

"I had a fundamental [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] disagreement with consultants," Gingrich explained to a room of about 50 activists. "I think we are in so much trouble that we need a very serious campaign offering very big solutions. That is totally different from the kind of campaign where it’s a 30 second attack ad and all the normal stuff.

"Our campaign is going to survive," he said. "I’m going to be here all [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] the way and I believe I can win because I believe that we are in enough [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] trouble that people want substance more than they want baloney."

In an interview on the Tea Party bus with a small group of reporters following his speech, Gingrich said losing his staff was "a very painful experience."

"In retrospect, we should have been very cautious about who we hired," he said. "We should have made sure there was total compatibility of vision and strategies before any**** came in. It taught me about how truly different this campaign will be from anything you’ve ever seen."

His staff troubles [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] came after a series of missteps that began shortly after he announced his intention to run for president on May 11.

During an interview on Meet the Press the weekend after his announcement, Gingrich publicly criticized Rep. Paul Ryan’s, R Wis., Medicare plan as "right wing social engineering."

Gingrich’s comment infuriated the right but [عزيزي الزائر يتوجب عليك التسجيل لمشاهدة الرابط للتسجيل اضغط هنا] as he tried to apologize another problem surfaced, this time with his personal finances. On May 17, Politico reported Gingrich’s wife, Callista, had reported a credit line of up to $500,000 at tiffany and Co. in 2024 and 2024 on the financial disclosure report she was required to file as a House committee staffer.

The Washington Postreported last week Gingrich will report another credit line to Tiffany’s for as much as $1 million on his financial disclosures that are due at the end of the month.

The Gingrich campaign has maintained that the accounts have been paid off and closed.

These problems have led to financial problems for the Gingrich campaign as fundraisers and supporters have jumped ship.

Gingrich told attendees at a fundraising dinner for the Republican Party of Maryland in Baltimore on Thursday, he would likely be in Iowa for the Ames Straw Poll but was unlikely to participate in the contest.

Gingrich declined yesterday to bid on a spot inside the hall where the Iowa Straw Poll will be held in August. The straw poll, partly a big fundraiser for the state GOP and partly a way for campaigns to show they’ve got support in Iowa, is not always an indicator of who will win the caucus.
