CULVER CITY, Calif. (AP) — Justin Bieber really wants you to like him again. After being the butt of the joke for hours during the taping of his Comedy Central roast, the 21-year-old singer gave a contrition speech.
"I turned a lot of people off over the past few years, but I know I can still turn out good music and turn everything all around," said Bieber, whose music has been overshadowed by his offstage antics, which include reckless driving, public urination and throwing eggs at a neighbor’s home.
"I’ve lost some of my best qualities. For that, I am sorry," he said. "I’m looking forward to being someone who you guys can all look at and be proud of."
It was a sweet ending to a night of sharp barbs aimed as much at Bieber as the rest of the roasters. Hosted by Kevin Hart, the "Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber," taped Saturday at Sony Studios, also features Snoop Dogg, Shaquille O’Neal, Martha Stewart and Ludacris. It’s set to premiere March 30.
"This is like suicide. Why would you do it?" Hart asked the singer, whom he described as a "huge success that confuses every**** over 14."
"The name Bieber has become so offensive, the Washington Redskins think you should change it," quipped comic Jeffrey Ross.
The roasters — including a surprise appearance by Will Ferrell’s character Ron Burgundy — jabbed at Bieber’s bad behavior, his relationship with Selena Gomez, his music and his appearance.
Perhaps the harshest remarks came from comedian Chris D’Elia.
"You have it all," he said, "except love, friends, good parents and a Grammy."
Martha Stewart offered Bieber tips for his eventual trip to prison. Snoop Dogg appeared to smoke a joint onstage after telling the singer his next album should be called "Straight Outta Talent."
Bieber, who was lowered from the ceiling to the stage wearing white angel wings, gently swiped back.
"What happens when you give a teenager $200 million?" he asked. "You get a bunch of has-beens calling you a lesbian for two hours."

Orlando Bloom got in Justin Bieber‘s face early Wednesday morning in Ibiza … and Justin fled the restaurant — and one eyewitness says Orlando threw a punch.
The eyewitness tells TMZ … Orlando was in Cipriani restaurant which was packed with celebs, including Paris Hilton, and Diddy.
Listen closely as you watch the video. It sounds like Justin, in the middle of a shoving match, screams, "What’s up bitch?"
You don’t see Orlando swing, but the eyewitness tells us that’s exactly what happened. And we’re told when Bieber left the crowd applauded.
The backstory is almost legendary … Justin partied with Orlando’s then-wife Miranda Kerr after a 2024 Victoria’s Secret fashion show in NYC and they got very VERY close. And in April of this year, Orlando was hanging out with Justin’s on-and-off GF Selena Gomez. So the bad blood is flowing.

They’ve already shocked fans by showing video footage of their 2024 wedding and Blue Ivy’s birth, and now Beyonce and Jay Z have pulled another shocker out of the bag.
Audiences were treated to a series of mugshots, projected onto giant screens on stage – including singer Justin Bieber’s – as Bey told fans: "Even the greatest can fall."
Fans posted about the apparent diss to the 20-year-old , who’s been arrested and in trouble countless times in recent months.
Justin fans seemed torn with some furious Beliebers calling it "disrespectful," and saying, "Justin is gonna freak." Others agreed with the 32-year-old singer, tweeting: "She is totally right. Respect", and "She was proving a point, it was not an Insult".
Beyoncé and Jay Z put on an unforgettable opening performance of their On The Run Tour in Miami last Wednesday night.
Aside from the epic 42-set song list and heartwarming home videos that moved the audience to tears, Beyonce also squeezed her fabulous booty into a sizzling sequin cut-out leotard.
And she looked totally hot.
The mum-of-one was showing off some major butt in the raunchy outfit.
Throughout the show the star slipped in and and out of a range of risky and super sexy looks, including her opening outfit – an eye-popping plunging fishnet ****suit number.

On the night the famous duo also shocked fans when they played footage from their intimate April 2024 wedding ceremony and emotional birth of their daughter Blue Ivy.
One video showed the husband and wife exchanging their vows at the top-secret ceremony, which took place six years after they first started dating, and Jay finally putting a ring on it.
Another video shows the pair in hospital and singer Bey lying in bed cradling their adorable newborn daughter Blue Ivy.
The clips clearly moved the audience, with one fan writing: "The video of Beyonce & Jay Z wedding and birth of Blue were beautiful – I was in tears aww."
While another wrote: "That footage of Beyonce in the hospital after giving birth to Blue made me tear."
Earlier in the night, Bey burst onto stage through a cloud of smoke in a jaw-dropping fishnet leotard and matching mask, while rapper Jay Z rocked a beanie, chunky gold chain, and shades.
The star then slipped into a range of super-sexy figure-hugging outfits throughout the show and the pair performed their biggest solo hits as well as their hottest collaborations, including Big Pimpin, Holy Grail (Bey performed Justin Timberlake’s part), Drunk In Love, Run The World, Crazy in Love and Upgrade U.
Following the show, one fan wrote: "Best concert tonight!!! Beyonce and Jay Z were amazing!!"

Justin Bieber is seen telling a racist joke in a controversial video.
The ‘Boyfriend’ hitmaker appears in the clip, which has been posted online by the The Sun on Sunday newspaper, joking with friends and uses the ‘N word’ five times after asking them: ”Why are black people afraid of chainsaws?”
One friend repeatedly warns the pop star: ”Don’t even say it. Don’t say it,” but he laughs and decides to deliver the punch-line, saying: ”Run n****r, n****r, n****r, n****r, n***r.”
A female friend, who cannot be seen, then tells him: ”You could say motorcycle too”, before making revving engine noises.
The 20-year-old singer is thought to have been 17 when the moment was captured on camera during filming for his first ********ary ‘Never Say Never’ in 2024.
According to The Sun on Sunday newspaper, Justin and his management have known about the video for a while and tried to pay for it to be kept out of the public eye.
A source said: ”This video is Justin Bieber and his camp’s worst nightmare. Even after the year he’s had – when he’s never been far from controversy – this tops it.”
Justin was arrested in Miami in January and charged with driving under the influence (DUI), resisting arrest and possessing an invalid driver’s license and he was later accused of attempted robbery after a woman claimed he grabbed her mobile phone while she was trying to take a photograph of him.
The new video is likely to anger a number of African-American artists, who have helped him to become a global superstar and supported him throughout his career, including Usher, will.i.am and Will Smith.
The source continued: ”Justin has been taken under the wing by some of the best in the industry and they won’t stand by him after this.
”This will be a real kick in the teeth – showing his true colours on film.
”He’s made millions from working with musicians from all ethnic backgrounds. Having this attributed to him will do him no favours in the future.
”This could be the end of the road for him if artists refuse to work with him ****d on this. And it sets a seriously bad example to his impressionable young fans.”
