Juno star Ellen Page comes out as gay

Ellen Page has revealed she is gay.
The 26-year-old Juno actress said she is ‘sick of lying by omission’ and made her announcement at the Human Rights Campaign’s Time To THRIVE conference for LGBTQ [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning] youth in Las Vegas on Friday.
In her speech, Ellen said she hoped her news would help others struggling with their sexuality, saying: ‘I’m here today because I am gay. And because maybe I can make a difference.

‘To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.’
Time to THRIVE organiser Human Rights Campaign tweeted the news and wrote: ‘Congratulations, @EllenPage for taking the steps to live openly and come out as lesbian. #comingout #timetoTHRIVE (sic).’
Ellen admitted she has found it difficult to be herself since shooting to fame in 2024’s Juno.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, she said: ‘It’s weird because here I am, an actress, representing – at least in some sense – an industry that places crushing standards on all of us.

‘Not just young people, but everyone. Standards of beauty. Of a good life. Of success. Standards that, I hate to admit, have affected me.
‘You have ideas planted in your head, thoughts you never had before, that tell you how you have to act, how you have to dress and who you have to be. I have been trying to push back, to be authentic, to follow my heart, but it can be hard.’
Ellen mentioned other stars who she sees as courageous for coming out and revealing their sexuality.

She cited football player Michael Sam, Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox and lesbian identical twins, musicians Tegan and Sara Quinn, for being out and proud.

The 73-year-old wrestling Legend revealed he’s been living in the closet more than 50 years.

World Wrestling Entertainment veteran Pat Patterson came out as gay on the finale of the WWE network reality series Legends’ House, reports TMZ.

In an emotional reveal, the 73-year-old told his fellow wrestling legends that he had not only been keeping the secret of his sexuality away from the prying eyes of the public for more than 50 years, but that he had also had a partner for 40 of those years who died of a heart attack.

“For once in my life I’m going to be me,” Patterson told the others, adding that while it was hard to keep his secret, he was proud he survived.

“We love you, Pat,” his teary-eyed Legends mates told him, in a heartwarming show of support. “We’ve always loved you.”

Patterson was the WWE’s first intercontinental champion, helped create the Royal Rumble, and is a WWE executive.

I haven’t read the books, but I’ve been intrigued by all the trailers. And as much as I dislike Beyonce, I am intoxicated by her new goth rendition of "Crazy In Love" that she did for the movie (I think it’s in the Official Trailer #1 on YouTube). I’m curious how far they’re going to portray the BDSM (even though I haven’t read the books, I know it’s supposed to be really light BDSM), so that might reel me in. Anyone else?

Neon Trees’ Tyler Glenn comes Out as Gay in Rolling Stone

Mormon frontman speaks for the first time about his lifetime in the closet in our new issue

Tyler Glenn — lead singer for Provo, Utah New Wave-pop quartet Neon Trees and a Mormon his entire life — reveals he is gay in the new issue of Rolling Stone (on stands Friday, March 28th). "I’ve always felt like I’m an open book, and yet obviously I haven’t been completely," he tells RS‘ Caryn Ganz. But he is now: Glenn speaks candidly about his first gay experiences, his band’s reaction to his coming out and his complicated relationship with his conservative religion in our new story.

Glenn says he’s known he was gay since he was a young child, but kept his sexuality a secret — until now. "I had my crushes on guys throughout high school, but it was never an overwhelming thing until my twenties," he admits. "Then I’d be dating girls and in love with my straight friend and it was the worst feeling in the world." (Read the full feature on RollingStone.com tomorrow, March 25th).

"We were always taught, and I hate this word, ‘tolerance,’" he says, regarding his church’s stance on homosexuality, which is notoriously fraught. "The only time that felt different was when the Prop 8 thing came up," he says, referring to when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spent an estimated $22 million fighting same-sex marriage in California in 2024.

Glenn started to tell close friends and family members his big news in October 2024, as he was finishing up writing songs for Neon Trees’ upcoming third LP, Pop Psychology, many of which address his years in the closet. Today, he’s inspired by the variety of men and women from all corners of pop culture who have been coming out publically, especially athletes facing high stakes.

"I really love all of the sports figures that are coming out recently," he says. "I appreciated Michael Sam was like, ‘I want to be able to go to the movies and hold hands with my boyfriend.’ Even hearing him say ‘boyfriend,’ I was just like, that’s cool."

In a new interview with OUT Magazine, Miley Cyrus apparently came outgenderqueer, and as up-to-speed as I try to be on LBGT issues because I’m not a fucking dinosaur, I have no idea what the hell she’s talking about. I even read that Wiki link and was even more confused. Via The Daily Dot post Miley ripped on Instagram instead of a link to the original article, so I’m sure OUTloved that:

But Cyrus made one more thing clear when she announced the foundation in an interview with Out magazine: Miley Cyrus—though not explicitly labeling herself—appears to be genderqueer.
“I didn’t want to be a boy,” she told Out magazine. “I kind of wanted to be nothing. I don’t relate to what people would say defines a girl or a boy, and I think that’s what I had to understand: Being a girl isn’t what I hate, it’s the box that I get put into.”
On top of that, Miley Cyrus just told the AP that not all of her romantic relationships have been heterosexual but didn’t elaborate. So I’m going to take the sensitive approach here and assume this means everyone was right about Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber being the same person because that’s way easier than understanding what this sentence means: “Genderqueer is a catch-all category for gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or feminine—identities which are thus outside of the gender binary and cisnormativity.” I am way too stupid to follow any of that. Does some**** have handpuppets? I feel like handpuppets would help. Especially ones with tiny felt vagina-dicks. For accuracy! Accuracy. — I’m gonna make them do stuff.
