Giuliana Rancic Says Russell Crowe Was Awful To Interview

Giuliana Rancic Says Russell Crowe Was Awful To Interview

I’ve been on both sides of an Interview (and not the kind that start with “Is there something wrong, officer?” and end with “THAT CLAP-HAVING JEZEBEL KNOWS WHAT SHE DID!!”) and one thing I know for sure is that the only thing worse than being asked pointless bullshit questions is being the one who asks said questions. If I had a nickel for every time I asked “What would you say your greatest weakness is?” through an Awful forced smile, I’d have enough nickels to finally afford the miracle to bring my soul back from the dead.
So naturally I assumed that someone like Giuliana Rancic must surely be completely dead inside or robot or one of the bug aliens from Men in Blackdisguised as a human, because why in the hell would you ever want to ask people stupid questions for a living. But apparently she’s a real person with feelings, feelings that once got trampled on and nearly squished to death during an interview. On Wednesday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, Googlyeyna Rancic was asked who her most awkward Interview was, and the winner was human ingrown toenail Russell Crowe:

“[He] was so mean to me. I had been at E! for a year, and I literally was like, ‘I’m gonna go easy because he’s pretty tough.’ And so I said, ‘Are you excited to be here tonight? Your big movie premiere?’ And he goes, ‘I’m contractually obligated to be here. What’s your next question?’ And I go ‘Um, isn’t it wonderful seeing all the fans?’ And he goes, ‘That’s your second question? 1, 2, you’re through!’ And walked away.”

Ironically, on the other side of the globe, Russell Crowe appeared on a show called Watch This, Will Ya Mate? where he talked about his best interview:

“There was this American girl from the E! channel who looked like a beautiful brunette grasshopper, and I never once called her a cunt or a fucking twat, or threw a phone at her face, or punched her in the nose or anything! I couldn’t believe it! Me, Russell Crowe, talking to another human without getting into a physical altercation! Yeah, it was definitely a personal best.”

E!’s red carpet queen Giuliana Rancic has been doing everything in her power to get newly-hired Maria Menounos out of the picture. According to a well-connected industry insider, “Giuliana feels like Maria is stealing her show and she is terrified.”

In Touch magazine reported that there was tension brewing between the two ladies, who have interviewed so many famous faces that they have each become celebrities themselves. “She wants Maria out,” a source told the magazine, referring to 40-year-old Rancic, who is the co-anchor on E! and a co-host of Fashion Police.

And now, RadarOnline.com can reveal even more details of their feud.

“Giuliana feels threatened by Maria because of the fact that Maria signed with E! and her contract included Live From E!, as well as stake in the company and her own show,” a source tells Radar exclusively of 36-year-old former Extra host Menounos’s now defunct series, Untold with Maria Menounos.

It didn’t help matters when, on Jan. 27, a scheduling mix up on Rancic’s part left the door open for Menounos to host E!’s SAG Awards red carpet coverage, for which she received less-than-stellar reviews.

However, the insider tells Radar that Menounos is not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

“Maria royally messed up at the SAG’s when she was taking over for Giuliana and she got heat for it,” the source says.

“Maria chalked it up to the fact that she was so nervous and the network sided with her, which pissed off Giuliana even more. But E! understands that this was a one-time mess-up because Maria is such a seasoned pro at this.”

“Honestly, people that work at E! think that Giuliana really needs to step aside,” continues the source. “She is tired and it shows.”

Singer Zendaya Calls Out Giuliana Rancic for Offensive Hair Comments

E!’s Fashion Police are known for their harsh criticism of stars looks on the red carpet, but this time, host Giuliana Rancic may have taken things too far. During Monday night’s broadcast of the post-Oscars Fashion Police show, Rancic commented on actress and Singer Zendaya’s choice to wear dreadlocks on the Oscars red carpet, saying, “I feel like she smells like patchouli oil. Or weed. Maybe weed?”

Zendaya took to Twitter on Monday night to respond to Rancic’s comments, calling her remarks “outrageously offensive.” In the Twitter post, which has over 35,000 retweets and 38,000 favorites, Zendaya lists prominent men and women who also wear their Hair in dreadlocks and recommends that people go and listen to India Arie’s song, “I Am Not My Hair,” before judging others. “There is already harsh criticism of African American Hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair,” says the singer. “My wearing my Hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our Hair is good enough.”

Many of Zendaya’s fans, including Khloé Kardashian, took to Twitter in support of her statement and look.

Rancic tried to clear the air on Twitter early Tuesday morning suggesting that her comment was not related to race. “I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!” But this might only be the beginning of a much larger discussion about beauty and race.
