Evangeline Lilly refuses to compromise her womanhood

On her tough lady roles: “I don’t like the idea of playing a one-dimensional character who is just fearless, strong and killer and has instincts and just thrives in dangerous circumstances — that’s really boring to me and I don’t think it represents what most women feel inside. I’m very proud of being a woman, and as a woman, I don’t even likethe word feminism because when I hear that word, I associate it with women trying to pretend to be men, and I’m not interested in trying to pretend to be a man. I don’t want to embrace manhood, I want to embrace my womanhood.”

Roles come to her easily: “I have been a bit of a reluctant actress since the get-go, since the beginning of Lost. I’ve been focused during the last five years on my writing career and I’ve just been fortunate and lucky enough to have some pretty great filmmakers come to me and say, ‘We’d like you to play this role or that role.’”

Are there more roles for women these days? “To be honest with you, and I mean this in all humility, I don’t know because I actually don’t seek out roles and I haven’t for a very long time … I’ve just been fortunate and lucky enough to have some pretty great filmmakers come to me and say, ‘We’d like you to play this role or that role.’ And that’s not to say there haven’t been roles I’ve said no to. There have definitely been roles that I read and I think, “Well, that just isn’t exciting, I don’t want to do that.” But it does mean that I am most certainly not an authority on the topic because I don’t go out and read every ****** out there for a woman of my age, I don’t meet with all the filmmakers, I’m not pounding the pavement or pursuing it in a way that would give me the authority to talk about what’s out there or what’s available. Although I do love the question.”

Cameron Diaz on why she refuses to ‘defy nature’

خليجية

Cameron Diaz has railed against our obsession with youth and claimed women feel like they have ‘failed’ if they look old.
The 41-year-old There’s Something About Mary star said that it is ‘crazy’ how women are under pressure to look like they are 25 even when they are more mature.
She said that women ‘don’t give ourselves permission to age gracefully’ and that they are constantly told they have to ‘defy nature’.
Diaz herself has in the past fallen victim to the guilt she describes and has had Botox which she regrets as it changed her face in a ‘weird way’.
She had a nose job after breaking it four times and has spoken about her battle with acne, revealing that she tried everything from makeup to medication to make it go away.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Diaz became the latest Hollywood star in recent weeks to talk about the process of aging.
Diaz said: ‘For me I feel like if I – it is almost as if we have failed if we don’t remain 25 for the rest of our lives.
‘Like we are failures. It is a personal failure. Like our fault that at 40 years old that I still don’t look like I’m 25.’

Feigning indignation, she said: ‘Oh, I’m sorry. I apologise, I wasn’t able to defy nature.’
Diaz agreed with Winfrey that everyone’s trying to be ‘back there,’ in the past.
She said: ‘Women don’t allow other women to age gracefully, and we don’t give ourselves permission to age gracefully, every****’s judging.’

Diaz, who has just released her lifestyle guide The **** Book, gave the interview weeks after Sharon Stone spoke out about how she ‘wanted to die’ when she put on weight in her 20s.
The Basic Instinct star, 55, said that she cried uncontrollably after being taunted by men who wolf whistled at her curves and larger breasts.
In a frank interview she also said that years later she suffered a relapse and teared up in the bathroom with a bottle of wine as she told herself: ‘I’m not coming out until I can totally accept the way I look.’

Jennifer Aniston refuses to visit Japan until they stop dolphin hunting

Jennifer Aniston refuses to visit Japan until they stop dolphin hunting

Sushi fan Jennifer Aniston won’t be enjoying hand rolls in Tokyo any time soon. Radar has learned that despite international star Aniston’s popularity in Japan, the actress refuses to set foot in the country because of its dolphin hunting practices.
“Jen travels the world to promote her films, but there’s a strong exception … and that’s going to Japan,” a well-placed source in Jennifer’s camp said. ”She doesn’t allow herself to be contractually required to travel to Japan because of that country’s policies toward fishing and specifically the treatment of dolphins.”

Aniston’s fans are largely unaware of how important animal rights issues are to the former Friends star. After seeing the 2024 ********ary The Cove, which exposed cruel dolphin hunting practices in Japan, Aniston financially supported the foundation behind it, says the source, and even appeared in a dolphin-friendly PSA.
Says the source, “She has vowed not to go to Japan until the country’s policies change.”

Meanwhile, Aniston’s longtime rival Angelina Jolie and ex-husband, Brad Pitt have no such qualms about travel to the Land of the Rising Sun.
“Of course Angelina likes animals, but she also loves the people of Asia,” a source explains. “After all, two of her adopted children are from the region. She is constantly traveling to Japan on vacation or to promote her movies.”

Will Smith: Jaden has 1 pair of shoes & ‘refuses to be a slave to money’

Will Smith: Jaden has 1 pair of shoes & ‘refuses to be a slave to money’

On fame: “I have the spirit of desire to make people’s lives better. Being famous is such a gift for me because small things make people’s lives brighter. You just shake some****’s hand. You just smile and write your name and people Will talk about it for the rest of their lives.”

On Ferguson: “It’s been rough for me trying to find my position in the struggle and where my voice is needed and helpful. You know, I grew up in Philadelphia, and Philadelphia has a really rough police-brutality history. I grew up in a neighborhood where it was very clear that the police were ‘them’ and we were ‘us.’ I also know that when I was seventeen years old, I had a $20,000 car, which made it certain that I got pulled over all the time. I had a red IROC-Z, the full stereo system and the rims and the paint job.”

On staying “cut” at age 46: “I like to look good, but I like my **** to function well more than anything. For me, it’s as spiritual and intellectual as it is physical. And emotional. I enjoy pushing myself. There is nothing like having to change your physical form to put you in contact with every weak part of yourself, to train yourself in discipline. You get confronted with all of the things you’ll be confronted with in your marriage, confronted with in your parenting, confronted with in your job. Put some**** on a treadmill and I’ll tell you how good they are at any other thing they do in life.”

On living like a pseudo monk: It’s such a strange thing. Jaden, my sixteen-year-old, he has one pair of shoes. He has three pair of pants and he has five shirts. Total. He has refused to be a slave to money. I so respect that. The younger generation is less of an ownership generation, anyway. And it’s such an interesting thing to watch, because I came from a middle-class background, but, you know, our lights and gas would be cut off from not paying the bill. I grew up in a house where you would need the kerosene heaters in the winter in case the bills didn’t get paid. And he’s from the complete other end of the spectrum. And it’s so interesting to me that from growing up in that space, he could see the need for things in a way that he’s rejecting. He’s like, ‘I’m not gonna let myself need things in that way’ — but I would like him to get another pair of shoes.”
