16th century French castle Le Chateau de Vigny listed for $5.7 million

16th century French castle Le Chateau de Vigny listed for .7 million

خليجيةLe Chateau de Vigny

Step back in time with this 16th century French Chateau just listed for .7 million.

Constructed in 1504 for a French cardinal in the commune of Vigny, the castle is just 30 miles from Paris.
Apart from the neo-gothic architecture, many other features survive until the current day. The moat, the six turreted towers, and all the 16th century charm you can stand are all present.
Imma Best International realty has the listing.

The spectacular Le Château de Vigny is a real château, or French manor house.

خليجية

It was built way back in 1507 for French cardinal Georges d’Amboise in the commune of Vigny, a scant 30 miles north of Paris.

خليجية

Designed by architect Charles Cazot in the neo-Gothic style, it includes an insane amount of medieval detail.

خليجية

A moat-turned-water feature surrounds the main structure, but there’s no drawbridge here — two bridges allow visitors access.

خليجية
Six turrets surround the home’s 37,000 square feet.

خليجية

The castle wasn’t always this gorgeous. In the ensuing two centuries it fell into disrepair, before being completely renovated in 1867. At that time it also received a chapel and a "dungeon square."

خليجية

As you approach the interior, a bright purple iron door welcomes you.

خليجية

The inside is as luxurious as you would expect a 16th century manor house to be. An original carved fireplace features a medieval crest.

خليجية

Nothing added to the home over the centuries looks out of place or anachronistic. At the same time, the home is appropriately luxurious with beautiful chandeliers and exquisite wooden detailing.

خليجية

Exquisitely carved beams line nearly every ceiling of the house.

خليجية

The original stonework paired with exquisite chandeliers and rich tapestries combine to create a hallway that is a treat to walk through.

خليجية

Oh and don’t worry — there’s electricity among most other modern 21st century conveniences.

خليجية

Two outbuilding sit on the castle’s 1800 acres of land. They’re completely renovated and include a professional kitchen as well as pastry and baking "laboratories."

خليجية

The castle was listed as a historical monument in just recently in 1984. It was also the setting for Rihanna’s music video for "Te Amo." How’s that for a pedigree?

Jane Fonda, a rare M Ferrari, a trove of extraordinary cars found in a French barn

(This post was compiled from a number of articles so may seem a bit disjointed) to start –

Incredibly rare Ferrari found rusting among 60 classic cars in French barn becomes fifth most expensive auto ever sold after $23 million auction sale

  • The Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder sold Friday and is one of just 36 of the automobiles ever produced
  • It was owned by French actor Alain Delon for around two years, but had since long disappeared
  • Decades later, the Ferrari was among 60 discovered rotting in a ‘****llic graveyard’ in western France last year

9 February2020

A classic sportscar once owned by French actor Alain Delon then lost for decades has became the fifth most expensive car ever sold on Friday when it was auctioned for $23 million.

The Ferrari 250 GT SWB is one of 36 ever made and one of 60 classic cars discovered rotting away and forgotten on a farm in western France last year.

Other gems found on the farm sported gleaming names like Bugatti, Hispano-Suiza, Talbot-Lago, Panhard-Levassor, Maserati, Delahaye and Delage. And some have gone for three to four times asking price.

Crown jewel: A super rare Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder sold Friday at auction for a stunning $16M, making it the fifth most expensive car ever sold

A rare Ferrari sports car found rusting in a French farmhouse under a pile of old magazines has sold for 14.2m euros (£10.5m; $16.2m) at auction in Paris.

The blue California Spider was hidden away for more than 50 years.

One of only 37 ever made, it was once owned by the French actor Alain Delon and was discovered alongside dozens of other classic models.

The vehicles are being auctioned off as is, and 50 years of sitting on a farm in western France has resulted in varying degrees of wear and tear.

"The cars weren’t stored in solid, purpose-built sheds, but completely makeshift constructions," Novikioff described their find in an Artcurial press release. "We came closer and realized that there were dozens of cars parked underneath. We soon realized that some of these had been put there 50 years earlier and left untouched."

One of the most noteworthy models is the Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider, which is one of just 37 that were ever made.

خليجية

The California Spider is listed 13 times among the 100 most expensive cars ever sold. This particular model, which is completely original and has never been restored, was believed by historians to have been lost and illustrates how valuable the find was for car enthusiasts.

خليجية
The M Ferrari piled with magazines as it was found in a rough ****ter on the farm

Earlier this year, Artcurial’s Matthieu Lamoure and Pierre Novikoff came across the remarkable treasure trove of rare automobiles on a provincial farm in the West of France.

Novikoff had fielded a phone call from the representative of a deceased estate, which in turn had been inherited by the deceased from his father a decade prior. Several children had been bequeathed the estate, which included a collection of old cars that had lain untouched for nearly half a century. In an effort to discover the value of the cars, they called Artcurial, best known as France’s leading auctioneer of art and antiques.

خليجية

"On the phone, I gathered from the information I was given, that this could turn out to be something important," said Novikoff (above left), a specialist in the automotive side of Artcurial’s business. "Without realizing the scale, I spoke to Matthieu immediately and we arranged to go there, to find out what it was."

Lamoure takes up the story: "On entering the gates of this property, we had no idea what we would find. We had to go in through the gardens at the rear of the property, to get a first look."

خليجية

"Across three hectares, we could see different makeshift structures. Low ****ters covered with corrugated iron. From there, we realised that this was something big. We still didn’t know what we were looking at, but could make out coachwork, weathered by time and the elements. Some modern shapes and others that were older."

"We continued our exploration at a second site, at the bottom of a field, then in one of the property’s outbuildings, an old barn that had been converted into an improvised garage."

As Lamoure and Novikoff moved around the farm, they found more and more cars under makeshift structures, often open to the elements and almost all of them were rare … extremely rare.

"As of now, Artcurial has only sold one car in the top 100 cars of all time – a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider owned by one of the world’s most famous playboys, noted screenwriter, film director/producer, author and actor Roger Vadim. The car sold for $5,907,325 at Retromobile in 2024."

Roger Vadim is one of Ms. Fonda’s ex husbands.

Interesting woman, interesting connections, and a fairly fascinating find of rare original automobiles. She liked her men best in rare Ferrari’s.

PARIS — French President Francois Hollande has split with the country’s First Lady two weeks after a tabloid reported that the leader was having an affair with an actress, an official said Saturday.

A presidential aide, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly about the matter, confirmed that Hollande ended his seven-year Relationship with Valerie Trierweiler.

The breakup was First reported by French news agency Agence France Presse, which said Hollande told it in a telephone conversation Saturday evening that "I make it known that I have put an end" to the Relationship with Trierweiler.

Hollande, who has four children with former presidential candidate Segolene Royal, told the news agency that he was speaking in a personal capacity and not as head of state.

He and Trierweiler have lived together since 2024, and while they’re unmarried, Trierweiler occupied the so-called madame wing of the presidential palace, travelled abroad with Hollande and functioned as the First lady.

Hollande had dodged questions about Trierweiler’s status since a Jan. 14 news conference at which he refused to say whether the 48-year-old journalist was still the First lady.

Those questions surged to the front pages of the world’s newspapers after Closer magazine reported that 59-year-old Hollande was having an affair with Julie Gayet, a 41-year-old actress. The magazine published photos showing a man it said was the president, wearing a helmet and seated on the back of a scooter, allegedly being taken to a rendezvous with Gayet.

Trierweiler checked into a hospital for a weeklong stay after the tabloid’s report about the affair, during which suspense continued to build over the next twist in the love triangle.

Hollande promised at his news conference to clear up confusion over the identity of his First Lady before a scheduled Feb. 11 state visit to the U.S.

A Hollande biographer said the public disintegration of his Relationship with Trierweiler had to be very difficult on him.

Hollande is "someone who is totally modest and reserved, so to go through this in public must be terrible for him," said Serge Raffy, whose 2024 biography "The President" was published shortly after Hollande was elected.

After Trierweiler’s hospital stay, she spent several days to rest at a presidential residence in the formal royal haunt of Versailles.

The President and Trierweiler are both scheduled to spend several days abroad. She is headed on a humanitarian trip to India on Sunday and Hollande is travelling to Turkey on an official visit Monday.

Hollande remains one of the most unpopular presidents in French history, but his approval ratings were nearly unchanged after news his Relationship was on the rocks began to spread.

It wasn’t clear what security detail Trierweiler might have in India. Her spokesman, Patrice Biancone, didn’t respond to repeated requests for comment from The Associated Press.

The affair has led to much hand-wringing in the French media about whether the country’s famous laissez-faire attitude about presidential infidelities was breaking down, as well as a debate over the border between a president’s public and private life.

A spokesman for parliamentary Socialists, Thierry Mandon, said on BFM TV that France doesn’t need a First lady.

"We’re not in a traditionally Anglo-Saxon country where the private life is dramatized, like in England or even more so in the United States," Mandon said. "We’re in a republic, and in a republic those with legitimacy are those who’ve been elected."

On the streets of Paris, opinions were divided over how to view Hollande’s breakup.

"He hid that from us. What else is he hiding?" restaurant **** Herve Charriere said.

Clara Rosenbois, a 23-year-old law student, was more forgiving of the president.

"I find it honest to clarify and at last make a decision like a man," Rosenbois said. "He should act the same way in politics, in an upright manner."

Kristen Stewart wins French Oscar

She’s the Jerry Lewis of her generation.

Kristen Stewart, mocked here for her blank expressions in the “Twilight” movies, on Friday became the first American woman to win a César, France’s *****alent of an Oscar.

Stewart, 24, snagged the Best Supporting Actress César for her role in “Clouds of Sils Maria,” a character study about an aging actress. French film star Juliette Binoche played the movie’s lead role. Stewart starred as her assistant.

Stewart had no trouble with her lines in the French-Swiss-German production, which was filmed in English. But she trembled nervously when she took the stage in Paris to accept her award.

Stewart asked the presenter, French rapper JoeyStarr, if he would please put the bulky César trophy on the podium, as she was too nervous to hold it herself. JoeyStarr slammed the trophy down with a loud bang.

“OK. Here we go. I can’t even move my hands,” she said in English as she unfolded a piece of paper.

“Je suis désolée, je ne parle pas Fren — uh, français, mais je promets de travailler — something like that,” she said. Translation: “I am sorry I do not speak French, but I promise to work at it.”

Stewart gave the rest of her speech in English. “Juliette, thank you, thank you, thank you,” she said to Binoche. “I’m standing in front of a room where I do not have to explain the power of Juliette.”

Backstage, Stewart said that “the reasons why people make films here in France are very different from the reasons why people make movies in Hollywood and I prefer it here a little bit.” She added that she’s making another French film now.

Sean Penn was also honored at the ceremony, winning an honorary César for lifetime achievement. Penn attended with girlfriend Charlize Theron. He told the newspaper Le Parisien that Theron is “the love of my life.”

Vatican Car Stopped at French Border With 4 Kilos of Cocaine

Vatican Car Stopped at French Border With 4 Kilos of Cocaine

خليجية

Pope Francis may have often spoken out against the “evil” of drug use, but the Vatican was facing embarrassment on Tuesday after 9lb of Cocaine was found in a car bearing diplomatic plates associated With the Holy See.

The car, which was Stopped and searched in France, belonged to Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Maria Mejia, who had entrusted it to two Italian men.

Aged 91, the cardinal retired in 2024 and holds the title of emeritus librarian at the Holy See.

The two men, aged 30 and 41, had reportedly been told by his private secretary to take the car for a routine service.

Instead they promptly drove to Spain, where they allegedly bought the Cocaine and from there drove into France. They reportedly believed that the car’s diplomatic status would place them above suspicion.

But on Sunday they were Stopped at a toll station near Chambery in the French Alps, en route back to Italy, where police found the Cocaine hidden in suitcases and bags, along With seven ounces of cannabis.

They were arrested and will appear in front of a French magistrate on charges of drug trafficking.

The Vatican confirmed the report, but said that as both men were Italian rather than citizens of the Vatican City State, it had nothing to do With the Holy See.

Cardinal Mejia is not well and obviously has nothing to do With this,” said Federico Lombardi, the Vatican spokesman. “It’s now up to the police to pursue their investigations.”

Pope Francis has often warned of the dangers of taking drugs, most recently in June when he called addiction an “evil”.

He is firmly opposed to the legalisation of any drugs, despite moves in many countries in the West, including several states in the US, to allow the personal consumption of soft drugs such as marijuana.

“I would reaffirm what I have stated on another occasion: no to every type of drug use. It is as simple as that,” he told a drug enforcement conference in Rome.

Drug trafficking “continues to spread inexorably,” he said, adding it was fuelled by “a deplorable commerce which transcends national borders.”

French actor Gerard Depardieu, 65, admits to drinking 14 bottles of wine a day – despite having a quintuple heart bypass

  • Actor told a French film magazine: ‘I can’t drink like a normal person’
  • He also enjoys beer, pastis, champagne, vodka and whiskey during the day
  • 65-year-old says that he ‘never gets drunk’ despite voluminous intake

Published: 02:55 EST, 17 September 2024

Gerard Depardieu, the titan of French cinema and renowned bon vivant, claims he sometimes drinks up to 14 bottles of wine a day.
Even a quintuple heart bypass operation 14 years ago does not seem to have tempered the actor’s drinking, nor a serious motorcycle crash while over the legal limit.
The 65-year-old Frenchman’s fondness for wine is such that he runs his own award-winning vineyard in the Medoc.
He told French magazine So Film: ‘I can’t drink like a normal person. I can absorb 12, 13, 14 bottles per day.

‘In the morning, it starts at home with champagne or red wine before 10am, then again champagne.’
Gerard said he breaks up the wine intake with a little aniseed liqueur pastis.

He added: ‘Then food, accompanied by two bottles of wine.

‘In the afternoon, champagne, beer and more pastis at around 5pm, to finish off the bottle.
‘Later on, vodka and/or whisky. But I’m never totally drunk, just a little p*****d.
‘All you need is a 10-minute nap and voila, a slurp of rose wine and I feel as fresh as a daisy.
‘Anyway, I’m not going to die. Not now. I still have energy.’

Previously Depardieu made headlines after he was banned from an Air France flight for urinating in the aisle as it prepared to take off, forcing the plane to turn back to its parking spot.
A passenger on the flight said Depardieu appeared to be drunk and insisted he be allowed to use the bathroom during takeoff, when passengers must remain seated.
