Grandmother Of Baby Elton John Tried To Adopt In 2009 Pleads To Singer For Help

خليجية
The Grandmother of a little boy in Ukraine who Sir Elton John Tried unsuccessfully to Adopt has called on the Singer for
‘any help’ he could give. Sir Elton and his husband David Furnish were captivated by little Lev Ageyev when they encountered him at an orphanage in 2024. But under Ukraine’s laws, gay men are banned from adopting and in any case Sir Elton, then aged 62, was considered too old. Sir Elton said at the time: ‘I would love to Adopt him. He has stolen my heart.’

Lev’s Grandmother Yulia, 61, has now rescued him from the orphanage. She said: ‘I have taken Lev out of the kindergarten until the trouble is over.’ She added: ‘I know he felt something for Lev. We’re worried what will happen so any Help he could give us would be appreciated.’ She added: ‘Lev went away to a camp recently and ended up becoming the star. He told everyone that Elton John wanted to Adopt him.’

After failing to Adopt him, the couple publicly pledged to find him a home in his native country and send regular financial help. In 2024 Lev’s Grandmother said she had not heard anything for Sir Elton since his visit. She said the Singer had also promised to Help Lev’s HIV-positive brother, Artyom. Lev’s alcoholic mother Marina, who was also HIV positive, died of pneumonia in 2024.

The Bill Murray one made me Laugh out loud!

Attention GR Fashionistas!!! Help dress me please!

Attention GR Fashionistas!!! Help dress me please!

Not sure if this is right spot for this thread, so let me know if it needs to be moved.

I have an event this Friday that I need a semi-dressy outfit for. I am horrible at clothes and wear essentially the same looking outfit all the time, regardless of occasion and it serves my purposes pretty well except for times like these. I need Help trying to figure out what to even look for so I don’t spend hours and hours killing my self esteem and crushing my soul in the local shops. If I have some idea before going in what I’m looking for, that will Help solve the need for a flask and therapy.

Here are my major issues:

1. I have flabby batwings from losing weight so my upper arms are nothing anyone wants to see (nor do I want to show). They are also disproportionately large compared to the rest of my upper ****. I can wear a small or extra small top but anything with fitted sleeves I have to go up in size to compensate for my upper arms.

2. I have cankles AND an actual fat roll on my left ankle. Tights or dark hose are going to be required if I end up buying a dress or skirt. No bare legs. I actually prefer to wear knee high boots the times I’ve worn skirts, but am not sure about that look for this event.

3. I have rolls on my mid-section, again from losing the weight. Nothing some spanx probably can’t take care of, but I’ve never bought any and can’t stand the idea of having fat sticking out outside of the spanx line.

I’m so hard on myself about my ****. I don’t do fashion or shopping – clothing is a very functional thing for me. I’m tall and thin-ish and can pull off quite a few styles, but am too cornered in my own mind to really stretch my comfort zone. So someone please Help me!

I would love it if you guys could maybe post some suggestions with pics so I had an idea what to look for, and what would work with the issues I mentioned above. I need to look fabulous, but def not overdone or overdressed. Understated, classy, elegant, but not old lady stuffy or too covered up. I don’t really have a budget for the outfit in that I’m willing to buy an entirely new outfit from top to bottom, shoes, under garments, whatever.

Hope someone can Help me!

help .opinions trouble with daughter

help…..opinions……trouble with daughter……

Hi friends. I’m in need of objective opinions from you wise people. Apologize for length.

Here goes.

My daughter (middle of 3) is 20, will be 21 in April. We were pretty close before my stroke. She was 11 when I had it. While I was still in hospital, my husband had a near fatal attack of diverticulitus and had emergency colon surgery.

I came home after a month in hospital, very depressed over my condition (partial paralysis).

She began acting up at school and we had to have meetings with her teachers.

She got a job at age 16. Hubs found her a great car (she was to pay half…..never saw a penny) and she totaled it within 30 days.

All through this time she regularly "borrows" money but never pays back. Now we don’t mind helping out the kids but this child never even offers to pay back any amount. She has stolen $ from my purse before.

Let me add her dad pays her cell phone bill.

She got another car….three payments behind….repo man after her. dad pays late payments with her promise to repay $300. This all occurred on her payday. Haven’t seen her since. She kept promising husb she was "on her way" never saw her. I should add since she got her car she never comes home except to do laundry.

She has an older sister and a a 4 yr old niece. No Christmas presents for anyone. Her sister is 21, a single mom who has also loaned her money. She’s never seen a penny either. Now daughter one can ill afford to loan anyone money. Daughter one works, gets no welfare. We help daughter one but she rarely asks for help.

Back to daughter two. She still has made no contact. Paying her car payments put a good hole in our finances (we are not rich, we do okay but barely). She knows how things are for us but apparently doesn’t care, since she hasn’t been seen.

All this help we give her is pissing off daughter one, and my son. They think we’re idiots for helping her knowing we’ll never see it again. She’s been handed everything and appreciates nothing.

I got so upset with her yesterday I told her I was cutting her off, that she was no daughter of mine.

I feel horrible for it. Of course I love her but I can’t keep bailing her out of every problem.

We have:

bought her a car.

Made the down payment on second car.

Paid 2 warrants.

"Loaned" her small amts of cash throughout the last few years.

She has:

Ignored her younger (14 yo) brother and her niece (4 yo) on their birthdays and Christmas.

Whoa, even this past Christmas, after presents were opened, she asked if we were giving her any money.

I hope this makes some kind of sense.

Basically, I’ve cut off my own daughter and feel like the lowest form of motherhood. Daughter one and son both say "About time." But she’s still my child. How can she just not give a fuck that she’s hurting us? She has also told me more than once that i’m a terrible mother.

I don’t know….how can 2 girls from the same parents be so different?

It was a horrific accident in her own childhood that spurred 27-year-old Basma Hameed to want to learn tattooing so that she could help others.

When Hameed was two, a pan fell off a stove in her childhood home in Iraq, spilling hot oil down her face. She endured third-degree burns that plastic surgeons spent years trying to repair.

With every painful operation, Hameed hoped doctors would be able to erase her scars.

“You believe that once you leave the surgery room that everything is going to be alright and everything is going to go back to normal. But that wasn’t the case,” Hameed told CTV’s Canada AM Wednesday. “Every time the bandages came off, it still looked the same to me.”

Finally, when Hameed was 16, her plastic surgery team told her they were out of options.

“My surgeon said: ‘Take your money and go on a vacation, because we can’t do anything else for you’,” she recalls.

“At that point, I still had red discoloration. I couldn’t take that and accept it. So I had to go and see what I could find.”

Hameed wanted to find a way to replace the eyebrow she had lost in the accident and learned about “permanent makeup,” or cosmetic tattooing.

“And once I looked into that, I thought, ‘Well, if we can do tattoos for eyebrows, eyeliner and lips, why not use the same technique and mix pigments that match your skin and tattoo into the scar?’

She admits the idea seemed strange at first, but she decided to take a two-year esthetician course at George Brown College in Toronto and learn everything she could about micropigmentation tattoos by apprenticing with a tattoo artist.

“And that’s when I got in front of the mirror and started working on my own face,” she says.

Hameed doesn’t remember feeling scared about trying a permanent procedure on her own face. “I just thought, ‘Why not?’ I really had nothing to lose,” she says.

It took about three years, but today, Hameed has an almost-perfect skin tone, with few reminders of the accident that defined her childhood.

She’s now opened up her own clinic that offers cosmetic tattoos, as well as “para-medical tattoos” for Burn and cancer survivors, and people with all kinds of skin colour conditions, such as vitiligo.

She now gets so many referrals from plastic surgeons, she’s having trouble keeping up. She’s opened a second clinic in Chicago and has also created a training academy, to train more people in her techniques so they can work directly in plastic surgery clinics.

Most of Hameed’s clients need between eight and 20 one-hour treatments. But because health insurance doesn’t cover the procedures and because many can’t afford it, two years ago, she started the Basma Hameed Survivors Foundation charity, to raise fund for people who otherwise could not afford her fees.

Hameed says what she enjoys most about her work is being able to help people who — like her once — have few other options.

“And when people hear my story, they feel so much better and realize there’s still hope,” she says. “You never have to give up and say, ‘You know, I have to accept it.’ Just finding out there is something makes them feel so much better.”
