Rachel Dolezal, NAACP Leader, Questioned About Race as Parents Reportedly Say She’s White

خليجية

Authorities in Spokane, Washington, are investigating whether the president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP misrepresented her Race when applying for the city’s Office of Police Ombudsman Commission.

Rachel Dolezal, 37, serves as chairwoman of the commission, which provides independent civilian oversight of police misconduct complaints. She’s also an adjunct professor at Eastern Washington University in the Africana Studies program.

For years, Dolezal has identified herself publicly as African-American — but the city is investigating whether Dolezal misidentified her Race on a city form when applying for a spot on the commission. On the city form, Dolezal identified herself as white, black and American Indian, ABC affiliate KXLY reported.

“We are committed to independent citizen oversight and take very seriously the concerns raised regarding the chair of the independent citizen police ombudsman commission,” Mayor David Condon and City Council President Ben Stuckart said in a statement issued Thursday. “We are gathering facts to determine if any city policies related to volunteer boards and commissions have been violated. That information will be reviewed by the City Council, which has oversight of city boards and commissions.”

Spokane’s NAACP chapter, mayor’s office and city council did not immediately respond to ABC News’ requests for comment.

Montana residents Ruthanne and Lawrence Dolezal told KXLY that they are Dolezal’s biological parents, and that they are both white. The two are listed as Rachel Dolezal’s Parents on her birth certificate, KXLY reported.

KXLY reporter Jeff Humphrey asked Dolezal About her lineage in an on-camera interview Wednesday, showing a photo that had circulated on social media earlier this year showing Dolezal and an African-American man who had been identified as her father.

“I was wondering if your dad really is an African-American man,” Humphrey said.

“That’s a very. … I don’t know what you’re implying,” Dolezal responded.

“Are you African-American?” Humphrey asked.

“I don’t understand the question of– I did tell you that yes, that’s my dad. And he was unable to come [for a meeting] in January,” Dolezal said.

Before answering any further questions Dolezal stormed away.

ABC News’ efforts to reach Dolezal this morning were unsuccessful.

Dolezal has said she has an extensive background in civil rights efforts. According to her biography on Eastern Washington University’s website, Dolezal received her master’s degree from Howard University and previously worked at the Human Rights Education Institute in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

"I think we all need more awareness. I want to enhance my own awareness of things," she said in a 2024 interview with the Coeur d’Alene Press. "I’m kind of on a mission to educate myself and being involved in educating others forces you to continue to educate yourself.”

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, is open to people of all races, and the organization’s chapters and branches feature people of various backgrounds in leadership positions.

As news reports regarding the city’s investigation began to emerge Thursday, Dolezal stripped most of the images from her Facebook page.

ABC News’ Emily Shapiro contributed to this report.

I wanted to write this today, because I have a feeling this teen actress may be headed to rehab as soon as this weekend or next week. She needs rehab. She has parents who Don’t Care what she does or when or who she does it with. When I say teen, I mean this actress is a teen, but she is not even close to 18 yet. She spends most nights in hotels with one or two guys she usually hooks up with. Her parents get their cut of her money which is all they really Care about. Late nights? They Don’t care. Drinking and drugs? They Don’t want to rock the boat and it’s not like she is addicted or anything. That is what they tell themselves. Our actress was red hot but her recent issues have caused her to be talked about for far fewer roles and the reason is producers are scared of what she is turning into. She is one big mess and needs help. What was B+ list and headed to A, is now in danger of sliding back to C. It is her few real friends that are pushing her to go to rehab, and not her parents. Our actress is resisting because she thinks she can handle it.

Crazy Days and Nights

George Zimmerman’s parents sue Roseanne Barr over tweets

George Zimmerman’s parents sue Roseanne Barr over tweets

George Zimmerman’s parents have sued Roseanne Barr for tweeting their address two years ago, which they claim forced them to go into hiding before he was charged with killing Trayvon Martin.

The lawsuit, filed Monday, said the comedian, activist and 2024 presidential candidate published their identities, address and phone number March 29, 2024.

"At first I thought it was good to let ppl know that no one can hide anymore," Barrwrote.

She subsequently deleted that tweet.

Barr later tweeted, "If Zimmerman isn’t arrested I’ll rt his address again — maybe go 2 his house myself."

George Zimmerman had not lived at the house in Lake Mary, Fla., since 2024, though his ****d remained on the title until 2024, the suit states.

Zimmerman’s parents accused Barr of knowing her tweets were "an open and obvious call for vigilante justice" and intending "to cause a lynch mob to descend" on their home, which they bought in 2001

They also allege that she violated Twitter’s terms of service by publishing personal information without their consent.

Barr’s conduct "went beyond all possible bounds of decency and is utterly intolerable in a civilized community," the suit contends.

The Zimmermans claim they were "forced to flee their home as a direct result" of Barr’s tweets and "have not been able to return to live in the house." But the Orlando Sentinel reported that Robert Zimmerman had told the newspaper March 15, 2024, that he and his wife had already moved out because of death threats after their son shot the 17-year-old Trayvon during a struggle Feb. 12.

The Zimmermans are seeking an unspecified amount more than $15,000 for emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

No public response yet from "the original domestic goddess."

George Zimmerman, a former neighborhood-watch volunteer, was acquitted last summer of murdering Trayvon, which he claimed was in self-defense. The boy was unarmed.

Zimmerman says in a new video posted by his divorce attorneys that he wishes people had "a clean slate" about him, "just no prejudice."

"Just think of me as me the person, not who I’ve been portrayed as by the media, by the state, by the government, whomever it may be," he said

He said the video, which was recorded Friday and posted Wednesday, was an effort to "show America who I truly am."

"On a grand scale, I would like to make enough of an impact on the judicial system so that what happens to me never happens to any****," Zimmerman said.

Chelsea Clinton Talks Growing Up in the White House Under "Very Firm" Parents

Growing pains in the White House! Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton opened up in a new interview on Monday, March 17, about calling 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue home during her teenage years.
"I was always deeply aware that I was living in history," Clinton, now 34, told Marlo Thomas in an interview shared by Huffington Post. President Bill Clinton‘s daughter would arrive home from school and walk through the receiving room, which she knew was a special place. "But then I would have dinner with my Parents at the kitchen table every night!" she said with a laugh. "There was much about my life that also was normal."

Last week during her first visit to SXSW in Austin, Texas, Clinton provided anecdotes of Growing up as somewhat of a normal teen in the ’90s. "I definitely taught my Parents how to **** and how to charge their phones," she told a large crowd of 3,000 as reported by CNN. "I’m sure that’s not uncommon for many people in this room."
The Stanford grad added that she would debate her Parents on current events and hot button political issues Growing up. "It taught me that not only was it okay to have an opinion and a point of view…it was expected."

Clinton was just 12 years old when her dad Bill Clinton, the former governor of Arkansas, took the West Wing in 1993. Enduring two consecutive Presidential terms during her rebellious teenage years in America’s spotlight wasn’t easy, Clinton admitted to Thomas. As the only child of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Chelsea said her Parents were strict. "My Parents were very firm about me always getting my homework done," she recalled with a laugh. "But I’d get to attend special musical performances and shows sometimes."

Now a wife and working adult, who serves as the Vice Chair of her father’s Clinton Foundation, Chelsea discussed the pressures of balancing her jam-packed schedule with sharing time with husband of nearly four years, Marc Mezvinsky. "My marriage is incredibly important to me," Clinton told Thomas. "It’s the place from which I engage in the world every day, and the place to which I return every day."
On the horizon possibly for Clinton and Mezvinsky? As she told Glamour last November, the couple hopes to make 2024, "the year of the baby."

What a difference a fourth makes.

Kimberly and Craig Fugate of Jayess, Miss., knew to expect three new little babies, but on Feb. 8 a Surprise fourth daughter showed up.

"It’s all been rather overwhelming when you think about how many changes will have to be made," Fugate tells PEOPLE. "But I am just trying to take everything one day at a time. I know it will all work out."

The Fugates older daughter Katelyn, 10, is also excited about the family growing from three to seven.

"She is very excited and ready for them to come home so she can hold them," Fugate says.

Because Kimberly had to be hospitalized at 24 weeks pregnant, it didn’t leave a lot of time to get things ready for triplets, much less quadruplets.

"We don’t really have anything," she says. "I had to take a medical leave from work in November."

The new mom, 42, is just looking forward to holding her new brood. The family has set up a Facebook page, The Fugate Quadruplets for updates and information on the babies.

"I am recovering well," she says. "Still moving slow, but at least I’m moving. [The babies] have their ups and downs, but for the most part, they are doing well to be as premature as they were."

For now, the couple will be scrambling for car seats, a car that will fit their whole family (their current car is a 5-seater) and hopefully finding a bigger place than their current 2-bedroom mobile home.

With four new identical daughters at home, the family is considering strategies for telling them apart.

"Someone suggested painting a toenail a different color," Fugate says. "[I’m] not really sure."

"Carseats are my first concern right now," she says. "I will have to have four carseats to even get them home from the hospital. Then we will worry about strollers, walker, playpens, that type of thing later."

Minnie Driver: Parents Who Put Kids in Showbiz Are "Desperate and Conflicted"

Minnie Driver: Parents Who Put Kids in Showbiz Are "Desperate and Conflicted"

Not a stage mom! Minnie Driver told Us Weekly at the Hollywood junket for her new movie, Beyond the Lights, on Tuesday, Oct. 21, that she is not an advocate of child actors in the industry.
"I’m not really for the whole Kids in show business thing," the mother of one, 44, said. The actress, who plays a nasty Hollywood momager in the film, told reporters that even moreso, she’s felt uncomfortable with the Parents of these young Kids in the spotlight.

"It’s really difficult even when you meet lovely Parents of children who are in show business," admitted Driver, who also works closely with a child actor on the set of her NBC sitcom About a Boy. "There is still the fact that they’re not having a childhood. They are out of their element, and in the element of an adult world which is not always appropriate. It seems to me there is always a certain level of desperation that makes a person put a child in that position."

Driver, a mom to her 6-year-old son Henry, tried to draw the character profile of a stage parent. "That’s an interesting place to start for a character: Someone who’s desperate and conflicted," she said. "And if that’s overshadowing everything else, it doesn’t matter how nice or kind or empathetic they may be elsewhere. The overriding thing is quite fierce."
The Good Will Hunting star said it really was a clash ("an interesting seesaw") between wills. "You love them, of course you love them, but you want this other thing," she reasoned. "It’s the realm of the hungry ghosts. That’s really interesting for an actor."

Meanwhile, the Oscar-nominated actress claimed that her character is not a villain. "You can’t be a villain. Villains aren’t interesting unless there is the un-villainous part of them," she explained. "You really understand why she does what she does… You really get it. It’s not from a malicious point of view. She’s not a sociopath, she’s not evil. She just desperately did not want to go back to that poverty and she wanted something better for her kid."
