Drew Barrymore: "I Don’t Think I’m a Good Actor"

Drew Barrymore: "I Don’t Think I’m a Good Actor"

She’s been acting since age 3, hails from a long line of Hollywood legends, and has around 65 acting credits to her ****, but Drew Barrymore certainly doesn’t have a high opinion of her dramatic gifts. In a recent New York Times article about the TCM show The Essentials, which she co-hosts with Robert Osborne, the Golden Globe winner, 39, opened up about her career and mentors.
The pregnant-again star ****d her E.T. director and godfather Steven Spielberg as her top advisor throughout her career.
"Steven told me, ‘Don’t act your characters. Be your characters," Barrymore revealed. She became a breakout child star when she worked with Spielberg on the classic flick at age 6.
"I Don’t Think I’m a Good actor," continued Barrymore, who shares daughter Olive, 17 months, with husband Will Kopelman. "I feel like it’s fake and yucky and it doesn’t ring true. But if you research and you study and make it personal, you just become that person, and it’s your truth and everything else around you falls away. Then you’re telling the truth, it’s not lying, it’s not fake."

And the legendary director’s words of wisdom stuck with the Blended actress for the next 33 years.
"At 6, I guess I was comfortable and more humorous than I would have remembered now," she mused. "But once I got older and kept continuing acting, I Don’t know if I would have succeeded without that advice, because that’s the thing that saved me. I’m not an actor, I’m a pretender."

I wanted to write this today, because I have a feeling this teen actress may be headed to rehab as soon as this weekend or next week. She needs rehab. She has parents who Don’t Care what she does or when or who she does it with. When I say teen, I mean this actress is a teen, but she is not even close to 18 yet. She spends most nights in hotels with one or two guys she usually hooks up with. Her parents get their cut of her money which is all they really Care about. Late nights? They Don’t care. Drinking and drugs? They Don’t want to rock the boat and it’s not like she is addicted or anything. That is what they tell themselves. Our actress was red hot but her recent issues have caused her to be talked about for far fewer roles and the reason is producers are scared of what she is turning into. She is one big mess and needs help. What was B+ list and headed to A, is now in danger of sliding back to C. It is her few real friends that are pushing her to go to rehab, and not her parents. Our actress is resisting because she thinks she can handle it.

Kim Zolciak is tired of ‘negative’ comments on her social media pages.

The 37-year-old reality star hit out at ‘haters’ online with a expletive filled rant shared to her Instagram feed.

Kim, a proud plastic surgery enthusiast, appeared to be under the belief that her ‘haters’ were simply insecure and jealous of her life and her curvaceous assets.

‘if you don’t make enough money get another job or a NEW one; if you don’t like me GET THE F*** OFF MY PAGE!’

She then added a caption, which read: ‘Haters this is for you! If I don’t like something in my life I fix it! Where there’s a WILL there is a WAY!

The former frenemies’ spin-off series has yet to announce a premiere date but the official synopsis was revealed by producers recently.

‘Atlanta’s ‘most driven’ housewives drive out of their comfort zones and across the country to discover America on a one-of-a-kind adventure.

The road to Los Angeles may be paved with good intentions, but that doesn’t mean they won’t occasionally drive each other crazy.’

Kim left RHOA during the middle of the fifth season reportedly due to conflicts with NeNe. The 47-year-old Bravo-lebrity is the only original cast member left standing in the latest season, which wrapped in early May.

Raven-Symoné on Putting Harriet Tubman on the $20: ‘I Don’t Like That’

One of the best things about having Raven-Symoné guest-host on The View is that gives her a daily, national platform on which to share her many insightful opinions. Her latest: Union spy and legendary abolitionist Harriet Tubman should not be on the $20 bill.

Debating her fellow co-gremlins (sorry, I meant CO-HOSTS; don’t know why that always happens) on which woman should replace Andrew Jackson on the $20, Raven laid out her objections to Harriet Tubman, the current frontrunner:

“No offense to everyone who’s going to be mad at me for saying this: I don’t Like that idea. I don’t Like it. I think we need to move a little bit forward… Let me just preface [by saying], I understand the history. I get it, trust me. I was taught, I’m in that culture. But there’s also Wilma Mankiller, there’s also Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Harriet Tubman… Me personally, I would’ve chosen Rosa Parks. I would have chosen someone that is closer to the progression that we’re doing now. I know you have to understand history so you don’t repeat it, but that doesn’t happen in our world, because we still repeat history of hating other cultures over and over again. So I would choose a different one, no offense.”

That’s SO Raven!

Keira Knightley: ‘I don’t think you can say that beauty is a curse’

Keira Knightley: ‘I don’t think you can say that beauty is a curse’

She doesn’t want her future daughter to be an actress: “I should imagine that if she wanted to act, I wouldn’t have a choice but, no, I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. It can be completely heartbreaking for most people who do it, because the amount of rejection is enormous. And it doesn’t matter what kind of person you are, it’s impossible for that not to take a toll. Even if you’re successful, you still have to go through a s—load of rejection. So I would say to my daughter: ‘Be a doctor or a lawyer – something stable and useful.’”

On her good looks:
“I don’t think you can say that they’re a curse. It would be stupid of me to say that my looks haven’t played a part in my career, because obviously they have. And obviously they have got be contracts with Chanel, but there have been as many, if not more, parts that I haven’t got because of the way I look. So I suppose it balances out.”

Being famous when she was younger:
“I reached my peak of grown-up behaviour at 20 and 21, and it’s been downhill since then. I was terribly sensible as a teenager but I’ve got far less so as I’ve grown up, which has been a huge relief for everyone – including my parents. I’m not actually worried about turning 30. Because, honestly, my early 20s were not much fun. Then, after 25, things just got better and better. Maybe you stop caring as much about where you should be going and what other people think.”

Her wedding to James Righton:
“It was a bloody good day and a lot of fun. And yes, being married feels pretty good. You only get to choose one member of your family and I made a good choice. So well done, me!”

Her favorite style icons are Bjork & Helena Bonham Carter:
“I always think that all the people on those ‘red cross’ lists are the best dressed. that swan dress was my all-time favourite. I’m always telling my stylist, ‘Don’t make me too proper!’ If it’s perfect, I’m not interested.”

Don’t call her “babe”:
“I don’t really notice ‘love’ or ‘darling’, but ‘babe’ I do find really tricky.”

Zelda Williams on dad Robin’s suicide "we don’t have an explanation"

Zelda Williams on dad Robin’s suicide "we don’t have an explanation"

Zelda had an interview air on The Today Show this morning, conducted by Kate Snow. You can see the videos in two parts, below. Zelda impressed me so much, especially in light of some of the invasive questions Snow was asking. Zelda talked about how she’s grieving following the loss of her dad, and how she’s trying to move forward in her life. Zelda came across as vulnerable and honest but straightforward and practical. Here’s some of what she said.

Grieving for her dad
For me especially it’s going to take a lot of work to allow myself the fun happy life that I had.

On the outpouring of love for her dad
There was an enormous outpouring of love from every corner of the world… the side of him that people know and love and that is attached to their childhood is the characters that he had so much fun being and that’s what’s important. I do think that’s what a lot of people will hold on to… for the most part it’s nice to have just our private life be our private life.

She was asked if she ever wonders why her dad committed suicide
I don’t think there’s a point [to wonder why]. It’s not important to ask.

People want to know why her dad took his own life

Diseases are – until we find out exactly how they work, we don’t have an explanation. There’s no one I can offer. A lot of people who have been through it and lost someone… who have gone on to lead very full lives know that there’s no point questioning it and there’s no point blaming yourself or the world… it happened so you have to continue to live and manage.

On public acceptance of mental illness

One of the things that is changing that is wonderful is that people are starting to approach talking about illnesses that people can’t immediately see. I want people to be more accepting.
It was important for [my dad] for people to talk about important things. He didn’t like people feeling like the things that were hard for them, they should go through alone. That’s the big legacy for him.

On what people should remember about her dad

People should remember what they want to remember of him. Who am I to guide what their childhood memories are of watching his movie.
